Praxis Core Exam 2
Abstract
In this analysis I will further investigate 4 key points to prepare me for a successful
The Praxis Exam is a requirement for anyone who is looking into entering the field of
education. This exam focuses on three separate exams that are Reading, Writing, and Math that
may be taken the same day or in three separate days. On the contrary to popular belief you do not
need to pass your Praxis Exam in order to transfer to Nevada State College. Build into their
education curriculum NSC offers specialized classes to help you pass this exam once you
transfer from CSN, from what I know UNR, and UNLV do not offer the same opportunity.
I did not do much to prepare for the practice Praxis exam. I just checks about how long
they would be. I wanted to go in with my own knowledge and unfamiliarity of the test and see
what I scored and needed most improvement on. As expected my scores reflected this attempt to
tackle on this practice without really reading into it as much. I can add that my dog who has been
with my family for 14 years died, and we received his ashes that week, that my mom had a heart
attack and now her fusion surgery is pending due to her possibly of not surviving a surgery so
complex at this time, or I can add the fact that my other summer classes and Church
volunteerism made it even more difficult to study, and did I mention I have 3 kids under the age
of 10 and renovations occurring currently at home. But regardless of my hectic stressful and busy
life, I honestly wanted to go in and take the practice exam to explore and evaluate what I
possibly need to learn more and refresh my mind on certain topics. I did however downloaded a
As previously stated my exams scores are not the best, although I am particularly seeing
the glass half full in one test. I thought my math portion of this exam would be at least a 20% if

not less, Math is one of the most difficult subjects for me I am happy yet embarrassed to report
that I got a 53% in the math test. A 53% is equal to Needs significant improvement. I know it is
not the best score but for someone who has major math anxiety this gave me hope that with more
practice and dedication I might actually not score as terrible when I take the real one. For the
writing part of the exam I got a 53% also which means Needs improvement. I really did not
know how this test was going to be and did the best up to what I currently known to take this
exam. The one that really took me by surprise was reading. For someone who loves reading and
has an incredibly huge book collection of many different authors, and genres I scored the least in
this exam. I know exactly what went wrong also number 1 I underestimated this reading exam
because it is something that comes natural to me and number 2 the stories that I am forced to
read during this exam are incredible boring to me. I lost interest and therefore lost focus a
In order for me to pass the Praxis there are a few things that I will do for example rent a
book on this exam, have a tutor help me understand what I don’t and use whatever FREE
materials and instructions that I can get. For me Free is better so whatever sources I can get that
won’t cost me extra I will utilize to my advantage and convenience. I also think it would be
beneficial for me to surround myself with people who are also or have taken this exam and
hopefully that can ease any extra anxiety that I may have. Furthermore no matter how much I
study I know I will be a nervous wreck when I go into that room to take this exam. My main goal
as I walk down and feel my world tumbling down is to take a moment if even a second to close
my eyes, breath and clear my mind so may successfully pass the Praxis Core Exam.
