LABORATORY / WORKSHOP INSTRUCTION AND SAFETY
PRECAUTION

1. Students are required to be in Laboratory before the class started to record


attendance and briefing.
2. Students who are late will be required to report to the Lecturer-on-duty before being
allowed to start the practical task.
3. Students are only allowed to leave the lab after performing practical task and
obtained permission from the Lecturer-on-duty.
4. Students who are absent must replace the practical task at another period and
submit leave permission letter to the Lecturer-on-duty.
5. Any damage to equipment should be reported immediately to the Lecturer-on-duty.
6. Students must dress appropriately and suitable for practical tasks.
7. Practical tasks will be implemented in groups based on schedule.
8. All practical tasks must be carried out accordance to the procedures stated in the
practical tasks manual.
9. Students must complete all the practical task results to be checked by the lecturer on
duty.
10. The completed practical reports must be submitted to the lecturer within the
prescribed period.
11. 20% marks will be deducted for the delay in submitting the report except for relevant
reason approved by the lecturer.
12. The practical report from students who did not perform the practical task will not be
accepted.
13. Equipment used must be cleaned and kept in place.
14. Make sure the lab is clean and orderly before leaving the laboratory.
15. Make sure all electrical switches were turned off.
16. Students are advised to get as much information about the practical tasks from
reference materials at the library, internet or other relevant sources.
HOW TO WRITE A WORKSHOP REPORT

The following arrangement of the report is suggested:

1. COVER
Use report cover included in this manual for each report.

2. RUBRIC
Each report must be included with rubric as attached with this manual.

3. TABLE OF CONTENT
Each report must be included with proper table of content.

4. TITLE
This should indicate the nature of the test and the test number.

5. OBJECTIVE
A brief statement of the purpose and significance of the test should be indicated.

6. EQUIPMENT AND PROCEDURE


Equipment and procedure used should be briefly described complete with suitable
picture.

7. PROJECT OUTPUT
All laboratory data shall be submitted in tabular form. Observations relating to the
behavior of the materials should be included. All equations or formulas used should be
clearly indicated. Calculations should be properly checked. The results of the test should
be summarized in tabular or graphical form.

8. DISCUSSION
There should be included a brief discussion in which attention is drawn to the silent facts
shown by the tables and diagrams. The test results should be compared with the
standard values.

9. CONCLUSION
Each report should have a good conclusion and state whether the objectives to be
achieved by this experiment was achieved or not.

Each report must be properly compiled and binded and must be submitted within
stipulated submission date.
