2. Brief us about the Founder/CEO of the company and the major contribution of him/her
towards the company.
Mr Sanjay Nagi, is a mechanical engineer from IIT Roorkee and graduated in 1983. He
started his career with Larsen & Toubro Limited. He was the youngest engineer in the
team and in spite of being the youngest in the team he was part of the core team
responsible for introduction of the vibratory compactor technology in India.
Mr Sanjay Nagi started his consulting company – GN CONSULTING in 1993 which he
subsequently sold off in 2002 immediately after which he started Market Insight
Consultants, a niche consulting firm that is positioned as a Decision Support
Consultancy.
Mr Sanjay Nagi has developed some innovative and differentiated models on
measurement of corporate interfaces like Customer, Internal Customer and Channel
satisfaction. Market Insight Consultants is the only company in the country to have a
process based model on Supplier Satisfaction.
Under the leadership of Mr. Nagi MIC has developed a solid body of work around
innovation at firm, sector and national level.
MIC is working with Ministry and Science and Technology to measure very intangible
subject like innovation.
Mr. Nagi consults with blue chip corporate clients like Godrej Group, Mahindra &
Mahindra, Tata Group, Shriram Pistons, GMR, GVK to name a few.
His firm Market Insight Consultants has also structured the entry of over 60 Foreign
firms in India with its own designed model “Getting you to India.” Companies like DSM-
a 10 billion dollar firm, Technogym, Panasonic …are few of them.
He is a qualified ISO assessor trained by IQA UK, He is also a Business Excellence
assessor trained by CII, and is a MASTER TRAINER in Marketing on the panel of CBI,
Government of Netherlands and is a global trainer who has conducted programs in South
Africa, Europe, Vietnam, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Dubai and Pakistan.
His MICRUTS FOUNDATION supports entrepreneurship at the bottom of the
pyramid by skilling and capacity building.
His FOUNDATION FOR BUSINESS COMPETITIVENESS is engaged in training
and capacity Building and has rolled out the entire capacity building for MSME
Ministry’s ZED scheme.
Mr Sanjay Nagi also runs a venture fund (QUARIZON) positioned as a bridge fund
and mentors many IIT engineers. Finally he has 2 companies – MIC CONSULTANTS
MIDDLE EAST in Bahrain and al MODHA INVESTMENTS AND SERVICES in
Muscat.
3. Please share with us the initial struggle that strengthen the current success of the brand.
During the initial days of the organization, the biggest challenge was to create a
differentiated positioning in the market research and consulting industry which
continues to remain a broad spectrum representing small and micro unorganized sector
at one end and the global firms on the other end. MIC undertook the strategy of not
doing the run of the mill research projects and started pitching for new areas where it
could carve a niche for itself while creating value for the clients. An example in this
regard is aviation sector which offered fresh opportunities in the domain of airport
service quality audits and besides this tapping opportunities in specialized service
areas like organizational diagnostics, internal customer satisfaction and international
consulting assignments connected with market entry, partner selection and distribution
set-up across sectors also offered opportunities to stand differentiated in the market.
The foundation laid during the initial years have strengthened MIC’s differentiated
positioning in the market today in terms of being a leading player in the country in the
domain of aviation research. The company also has high reputation in the domain of
handholding services for foreign companies wanting to establish presence in India.
