Assessing the Curriculum

1.) What do you think would be the consequence if:

a.) curriculum does not relate to Instruction?

If the curriculum does not relate to instruction, the objectives of the curriculum will not be
achieved.

b.) instruction does not relate to Assessment?

If the instruction does not relate to assessment, the abilities, strengths and needs of the
students are not all taken into consideration.

c.) assessment does not relate to Curriculum?

If the assessment does not relate to curriculum then there is no mastery. The curriculum will not
be measured.

2.) In your experience as a learner, does your curriculum provide these connections or matching?
What is the implication of this lesson to becoming a teacher?

Based on my experience as a learner, the curriculum matches my learning style and needs.
Knowing the interests and abilities of every learners is the key to become a good teacher.

3.)What is your role as a school head in the assessment of the curriculum?

Our role as a School head is to check if the curriculum is properly implemented. School heads
must provide the needs of the school to achieve the goals and objectives of the curriculum.

4) How are these terms related to one another?

a.) Curriculum – Instruction

Curriculum and instruction must be compatible in order to maximize student learning.

b.) Curriculum – Assessment

Curriculum and assessment are related because they provide a foundation for quality education
to support our students.

c.) Instruction – Assessment

The instruction part of teaching is the lecture part. There are many types of assessment that can
be given to our students. The teacher need to assess to determine if the instruction is effective and the
objectives were met.
5. When do you say a curriculum is good or not? Explain why there is a need to change a curriculum
every 5-10 years. What are the parameters in evaluating a curriculum?

Education is dynamic. Therefore, there will always be change in the area of education that
demands for the innovation and development of the curriculum that will help us to cope up with the
changes.

6. How can a meaningful instruction be achieved?

Meaningful instruction can be achieve through the following: share responsibility with the
learners, create interactions with deeper purpose, understand learner behaviour and be culturally
aware.

7. Of the six features of Curriculum Instruction, which do you think is the most important? Why?

The learner is the most important feature of curriculum. There is no teaching without them..

8. Why is school based evaluation of curriculum better than the other types of evaluation?

School based evaluation of curriculum is better than other types of evaluation because it
provides reliable and valid information on curriculum resources, and general school functioning.

9. In the kind of learners today which approach is the most applicable? Why?

The most applicable approach today is a student-centered approach because students gain an
understanding of their own learning style. They get more control over how they spend their time. More
engaged students means more fulfilled and less stressed educators.

10. Why is it important to assess the curriculum?

The need to evaluate curriculum is necessary to determine whether the program and its
implementation have produced positive and curricularly suitable outcomes for students.
