A Semi-Detailed Lesson Plan

in MAPEH 8
“Basic Dance Steps in Folk Dancing”
I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
1. identify the basic dance steps and terms in folk dancing;
2. show interest and enjoyment in performing basic dance steps in folk dancing;
and
3. execute the basic dance steps correctly with Leron Leron Sinta music.

II. Subject Matter

 Topic: Basic Dance Steps in Folk Dancing


 Reference: Learner`s Material in Physical Education and Health Grade 8
pp. 168-170
 Materials: Cartolina, Pictures, Speaker, Chalk and Chalkboard

III. Procedure

A. Preliminary Activities
- Prayer
- Classroom Management
- Checking of attendance

B. Review
The teacher will call volunteer students to perform the five (5)
fundamental dance positions of arms and feet in front of the class.

C. Motivation
Name of Activity: Word Search
Instructions: In this activity, the students will find 10 words posted on a
board. This would be the hint to find out what would be the lesson/topic from
the search words.

Name of Activity: Dance! Dance! Dance!
Instruction: The students will be divided into five (5) groups. Each group will
execute at least seven (7) of the basic dance steps with the music tune of Leron Leron
Sinta applying some of the dance terms including Saludo.

Rubrics:
Execution and Mastery of Steps 40%
Choreography 30%

Enjoyment & Cooperation 30%

Total 100%

F. Generalization
Folk dance is a form of dance developed by a group of people that reflects
the traditional life of the people of a certain country or region.
These are the dance terms that is basically used in folk dance – saludo,
padyak, set, leap, bend and arm in lateral position.
These are the basic dance steps that is basically used in folk dance – cross
change step, heel-toe change step, touch step, bleking step, slide step, brush step, hop
step, pivot turn, waltz step, waltz balance.

IV. Evaluation
Identification. A short quiz in ¼ sheet of paper, answer the ff. questions.
1. Most dances begin and end-with ______.
2. It is to stamp or tap with one foot and weight of the body is on the other foot.
3. Step R sideward; Step L close to R; Raise both heels.
4. Heel place right foot sideward; toe point; step, close, step.
5. Step, ball and turn; Step, ball and turn; and so on…

V. Assignment

A. Give at least five Philippine Folk Dances. Search its origin, costumes and its
dance steps.
