PAPER SUBMISSION GUIDELINES and TEMPLATE

The purpose of this document is to explain to authors participating in the Call for Submissions for the
Kerala State Technological Congress (KETCON) their role in ensuring that a paper delivered to KETCON
can easily and quickly be reviewed and published before the KETCON Conference.
The document explains the different elements authors must deliver upon the completion of the paper.
The document is intended to be used by author(s) as a template for the delivery of their conference
papers. Examples of the use of chapter titles; headings and numbering; body text; headers and footers;
and labels for tables and figures are included throughout this document.

1. GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
Main Heading in Font Arial, Capital Letters, Bold. Font Size 11 Point, with 6pt Spacing Before and After.
1.1 Type area
All pages (including those containing figures and tables) should be numbered consecutively;
Numbers should be centred at the bottom of the page;
Use only A4 format with one-inch margins on all sides. Single-space body text, 6pt-space between
paragraphs and before and after headings;
Text –Arial – 11 pt – Justified, 6pt before and after hard returns
Sample text: Environmental Protection Plans (EPPs), also called Environmental Operating Procedures,
are activity or protection-focused procedures. EPPs typically include measures that must be followed by
all personnel (including Contractors and Sub-Contractors) during construction of the project to ensure
that the environmental impacts are minimized. EPPs are created for specific projects by the Contractor
to meet the nature and scale of the construction project and contractual arrangements, as well as satisfy
regulatory requirements.

Papers should be no more than 7 pages in length, including all tables and figures.
Material not original to the paper must be properly referenced by the author's name, title of reference,
publisher, place and date of publication, volume or report number and page numbers.
Responsibility for copyright clearance and all statements contained within the paper lies solely with the
author. Appendices should be avoided. Abbreviations, acronyms and symbols must be fully identified the
first time they are used in the paper.

ILLUSTRATIONS AND TABLES
• Photographs may be in black and white or colour. Image resolution must be clear;
• Use number figures and tables consecutively, in Arabic numerals, with titles for each. The title of table
shall be above table whereas the title of the figure shall be below the figure. Clarity is especially
important. Figures should be simple, with good contrast between background and graphics;
• Figures and tables can be incorporated in the text (not at the end of the text).

SAMPLE REFERENCES
All documents referenced in the text must be included in a numbered list sequentially in the order in which
they appear in the paper. References must be cited in full, including the full title, author’s name, citation,
publisher, pagination, location and date of publication.
