Any good university educates its students. But a great university—a university with monumental
impact and a tradition of intellectual leadership—does more. It transforms lives on a grand scale.
Since 1883, students from across Texas and around the world have come to The University of
Texas at Austin to seek challenges and open doors to the future. Graduate students choose
the university for its reputation for academic excellence, its commitment to research and
teaching, and its location. They also choose it for the diversity—in all its forms—evident on
campus, and for which Austin is famous.

Experience #ATX
It’s possible to lose and find yourself, both at the same time.
Austin, Texas, is a city for the 21st Century—diverse yet inclusive. We’re known for “keeping it
weird,” but it’s not a prerequisite, and if there’s a party, you’re invited.
Lose yourself during the annual South by Southwest and Austin City Limits festivals; keep
cool at the iconic, spring-fed Barton Springs Pool; and enhance your understanding of the
world at the Harry Ransom Center, located on campus and home to a Gutenberg Bible, the
world’s first photograph and 42 million manuscripts.
Don’t quit your day job, though. Professional opportunities abound. Interested in tech? Find
yourself at Dell, Apple or Facebook. Government? We live and work in the shadow of the Texas
State Capitol. Business? Fortune 500 company Whole Foods is headquartered right here.
Marketing? Try ad gurus GSD&M.
Whatever you decide to do, know that in Austin, one thing is almost always true: You’re always
welcome.
But don’t take our word for it. Come see for yourself.
