OCEAN VICTORY
A. GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The OCEAN VICTORY is a Diamond Offshore designed Victory Class rig outfitted for drilling in
water depths to 6,000’ with a large and versatile variable deck load.
The following Variable Deck Load numbers are only guidelines. The actual magnitudes are
based on stability and dependent upon a number of things including the physical location of the
VDL items and additions to and deletions from rig lightship weight. VDL includes the weight
of third party equipments.

* Pontoon tank CST2 is outfitted for storage of a maximum of 3,213 bbls of 8.5 ppg brine. The
density of the brine limits the volume of brine that can be stored. At 12.0 ppg, capacity is
limited to 2,291 bbls. This system has separate dedicated lines and pump for safely transferring
brine from loading areas to tank and tank to mud pits or loading area.

floating type rig and a sick bay for two (2) men.

Towing Requirements
The minimum tow requirement for the Ocean Victory at transit draft is a tug with a minimum
bollard pull of 160 short tons. If two or more tugs are used, the bollard pull shall be shared by
the weaker boats as follows:
All requirements are for towage classified as field moves in moderate environments. For
towage in more significant environmental conditions and ocean tows, each move shall be
evaluated by the Marine Department and insurance underwriters for selection of towing
equipment.
After March 1 2004, all towing vessels shall provide a bollard pull certificate acceptable to
Diamond Offshore Drilling and to their Warranty Surveyor of Record.

Anchors
Windlasses
Eight (8) AM Clyde Model CTW 350/52 combination chain/wire mooring winches, each
driven by one (1) Series wound GE 752(1,000 hp) DC motor. Windlasses equipped with
brakes, locking pawls and anchor tension indicators. Swivel fairleaders provided for each
mooring line. Supplemental Hurricane Season Moorings have swivel bending shoes.
Four (4) electrical local control consoles located on each corner column (each operating two (2)
combination units).
Anchor Deployment
Eight (8) permanent chain chasers (BEL112), each with 3” x 100 ft / 6x41 wire, Hawser
thimble one end and Pee Wee socket other end.
Vessel requirements for running, retrieving and handling anchors is heavily dependent on water
depth and whether the unit is to moor on all chain (up to 700’) or chain/wire line (up to 5,500’).
Bollard pull, bow and stern thrusters, winch capability, shark jaws, pop pins, etc. are all vital to
a successful mooring operation.
Towing Equipment
Two (2) towing pendant lines, 3" x 200’. (If required, tow pendants can be bridled together
with "flounder plate" to enable towing with one vessel).
1. Drawworks - One (1) Continental Emsco Model C3, Type 2, with two speed transmission
and chain driven by three (3) series wound GE752 1,000 HP DC motors. Drawworks is
equipped with Baylor 15050 eddy-current auxiliary brake, Continental Emsco Model GBH
makeup and breakout catheads, and Stewart & Stevenson Crown-O-Matic, Model TCB.
Lebus grooving for 1-5/8" wireline.
2. Mast - One (1) Dreco modified cantilever type mast 180' high and with a 40' wide base with
an API 1,500,000 lb. static hook load capacity with 14 lines strung and capable of
withstanding the dynamic loads imposed by the motions of the drilling unit while under tow
or 2 fingerboard configurations.
- Configuration 1 is all 5 7/8 drill pipe. It will hold (292 stds) 28,000 ft. of 5”, 5 ½” or 5
7/8”: (150 stds) 14,400’ on the port and (142 stds) 13600’ on the stbd.
- Configuration 2 is 5 7/8 and 6 5/8. It will hold (257 stds) 24,600’ combined: (180 stds 5
7/8 – 150 port and 30 stbd) 17,200’ and (77 stds of 6 5/8) 7400’ on the sbd.
Fingers on-board use either configuration. Stabbing platform, adjustable 10' to 46' from drill
floor, is provided.
- Dreco crown block, (650 ton) with 7 x 60" sheaves grooved for 1-5/8" drill line.
- National 760H650 (650 ton) traveling block with 7 x 60” sheaves grooved for 1-5/8”
drill line with guide rollers.
- Rucker Shaffer motion compensator system, Model DSC-18-500 - 18 ft. stroke with
500,000 lb. compensating capacity (1,300,000 lb. capacity when closed and locked).
- Varco TDS-4S 650 ton rated Top Drive Drilling System complete with:
- GE 752US Hi-Torque shunt wound drilling motor with double ended armature shaft
and armature thrust bearing for vertical operation.
- Two speed gear box with 7.95:1 (low) and 5.08:1 (high) ratios. Output shaft is
mounted in heavy duty roller bearings and combines rotating and hoisting functions.
Design incorporates separate mud passage to isolate mud flow from motor, gears
and bearings.
- Main gear box lubrication system to lubricate and cool both the primary gear set and
main shaft bearings.
- Motor air brake providing 34,000 ft/lbs. of static braking torque at 90 psi air in high
gear and 53,200 ft/lbs. in low gear.
- PH-85 pipe handler complete with 650 ton rated link adapter assembly with load
collar, remote operated uppers safety valve, manual operated lower safety valve,
torque wrench, stabbing guide and link tilt assembly. Torque wrench is rated at
85,000 ft/lbs makeup and breakout torque and has a range of 3-1/2” through 6-5/8”
OD drill pipe.
- Model RBS-III raised backup system with torque backup tool and stabbing guide
assembly. Handles 4-3/4” to 8-1/4” OD tool joints.
4. One (1) National Type EB deadline anchor with snubber and Martin Decker Type E-80
Sensator.
5. Rotary - One (1) 49-1/2" C495 National rotary table, with 700 series 2-speed transmission,
driven by a Series wound GE-752(900 hp) DC motor (650 ton load capacity).

- Totco Rigsense drilling instrumentation monitoring the following: hook load, bit
weight, total depth, rate of penetration, standpipe pressure, boost line pressure, annulus
pressure, cement pressure, RPM, drill pipe torque, stroke counters for three mud pumps,
mud system volumes, trip tank volume, tong torque and drill line ton-miles.
7. One (1) wireline unit, Mathey /Leland with drum capacity for 25,000' of 3/16” cable. Cable
size is 0.092
9. One (1) Totco drift indicator, Single-shot non-directional, complete with 0-8 degree and
0-16 degree indicators.
10. One (1) Drilco Ezy-Torq Model D hydraulic cathead rated to 98,400 ft/lbs.
12. One (1) Varco spin model SSW-30 Hydraulic pipe spinner
13. One (1) Varco Dual Hydraulic power units supplying power to Top Drive and Pipe spinners
14. Four (4) Ram Model 7AWF6000GI-HS guideline winches with 12,000 lb. full drum stall
with 6,000 ft. 3/4” wire rope and 200 fpm line speed. Fitted with manual brakes.
15. Two (2) Ram Model 12AW6100 pod line winches with 16,000 lb. full drum stall with
6,000 ft. 3/4” wire rope and 55 fpm line speed. Fitted with Eaton water brakes.
1. Three (3) Continental Emsco FC-1600 triplex mud pumps with 7,500 psi discharge
pressure. Hydril 6804-B Discharge Dampener and Blacoh CT Suction Dampener Each
pump directly driven by two series wound GE-752 900 HP DC motors. Titan Type BX
8,000 psi, automatic reset, relief valves. Mud pumps fitted with 6-1/2" liners.
2. One (1) National mutiplex pump belt driven .Powered by one (1)GE-752 900 HP DC
Motor. Consists of Emsco model PD-5 suction and discharge dampeners. Mud Pump fitted
with 5” liners dedicated to flushing the booster line.
- Four (4) Mission 5 x 6R supercharging pumps with 14” impellers each driven by a 75
hp 1,200 rpm explosion proof AC motor.
- Five (5) Mission Magnum 6 x 8R mud mixing pumps with 10-3/8” impellers each
driven by a 100 hp 1,800 rpm explosion proof AC motor. These pumps supply mud to
the drill floor, fill up tank, cementing unit, degassing unit, mud mixing hoppers, and
transfer mud from the reserve pits to the main mud pits.
- Two (2) Mission 6 x 8R mud service pumps with 12” impellers each driven by a 100 hp
1,800 rpm explosion proof AC motor located at shale shakers for degassers.
- Two (2) Mission 6 x 8R mud service pumps with 12” impellers each driven by a 125 hp
1,800 rpm AC motor located at shale shaker house for desander, desilter and mud
cleaners.
- One (1) Gumbo box, equipped to accommodate Nu-Tec motor driven gumbo chain.
- Two (2) Swaco vacuum degassers with IR type 33 compressor, each rated 1,000 gpm.
5. One (1) mud/gas separator, Diamond Offshore designed 60" OD x 20' high x 1/2" wall
atmospheric type with 10" OD gas vent line to top of mast. Complete with 13-ft. trip tank
liquid leg.
6. One (1) Riser mud/gas separator Diamond Offshore design 49” OD x 11 6” high
atmospheric type
8. Four (4) Philadelphia Gear agitators mounted over the active mud pits. Four (4)
Philadelphia Gear agitators mounted over the four (4) reserve mud pits.
9. Six (6) Demco low pressure mud guns. Two (2) low-pressure guns located in each of the
four Reserve mud pits (1) low-pressure guns located in each of the main mud pits.
- Six (6) 1,200 cu. ft. pneumatic bulk storage tanks, total 7,200 cu. ft. combined, for bulk
mud with removable isolation pipe sections if required.
- Six (6) 1,100 cu. ft. pneumatic bulk storage tanks, total 6,600 cu. ft. combined, for bulk
cement with removable isolation pipe sections if required.
- Two (2) Halliburton surge tanks each with 70 cu. ft. capacity, and located in mud pit
area for mixing bulk barite.
- Manifolding and crossover piping to allow bulk mud and cement to be taken on board
the rig from either the port or starboard side.
11. Sack storage area consisting of 1,035 sq. ft. of enclosed space located next to mud pits.
Capacity of approximately 4,000 sacks.
12. Three (3) Demco low pressure mud hoppers two (1) sack fed and two (2) surge tank or sack
fed.
14. One (1) Vortex Ventures Mix-mate caustic & chemical mixing tank, 100 gallons, complete
with air operated diaphragm pump for direct discharge to mud pits
15. One (1) basic set of mud testing equipment as required, complete with sink and cabinet.
16. Two (1) 4" ID Full Flow 90' 7,500 WPSI with 5" Weco Fig 1002 butt welded unions
(MxF).
17. One (1) trip tank, 76 bbl capacity with divider to separate into two (2) 38.5 bbl tanks,
complete with level indicators. Continuous fill-up of well bore is accomplished via two (2)
3 x 4 Mission centrifugal pumps each driven by a 25 hp explosion proof AC motor.
18. Dedicated storage tanks for brine completion fluid (CST2), complete with pump and piping
to mud pits with a dedicated take on line at the mud pits starboard supply boat loading
stations. Pump brine system consist of Mission 4x3 centrifugal pump driven by 50 hp
electric motor.
19. One (1) mini trip tank, 15 bbl capacity, 36” diameter x 15 ft. tall with internal level markers,
gravity flow to choke manifold for monitoring well via choke or kill line, overflow to trip
tank, 4” fill line from trip tank centrifugal pump, 2” salt water fill line, skid mounted with
containment pan.
a. One (1) monitoring system for mini trip tank, ElectroWave, ultrasonic level probe,
loop powered indicator with alarm setpoints and custom graduated scale, display
panel located in Driller’s cabin.

connection.
- Choke and kill valves, four (4) Shaffer Dual Block HB 3-1/16" x 15,000 psi WP fail
safe valves for the kill and choke lines.
- One (1) guide frame complete with retractable posts, shuttle valves, kill and choke
line stabs and spools, and subsea accumulators. No subsea accumulator bottles.
- Guide posts are fitted with Regan guideline re-establishable type post tops.
- BOP equipped with ROV interface stabs that will allow closure of all rams and
function connector.
- One (1) 18-3/4" x 10,000 psi WP Cameron Model HC connector with studded top
connection.
- Two (2) 18-3/4" x 10,000 psi WP, Shaffer spherical annular preventers with 10,000
psi WP flanged lower and 10,000 psi WP studded upper connections. Equipped
with studded 3” side outlets.
- One (1) Oil States high pressure flex joint, 18-3/4" nominal ID. Can deflect up to a
maximum of 10o from vertical, pressure balanced.
- Two (2) 3" ID Steel Loops (15,000 psi WP, 20,000 psi test) rated for 180o F
maximum temperature.
- One (1) 2-1/2” I.D. Hydraulic Steel Loop (5,000 psi WP, 10,000-psi test).
- One (1) Shaffer Dual Block HB 3-1/16" x 15,000 psi WP fail safe valve fitted via
a side outlet on the upper annular preventer connected to the choke line.
- Two (2) 3-1/16” x 15,000 psi WP choke and kill line isolation valves, one on kill
line and one on choke line to allow testing of the lines when running only the
LMRP.
- One (1) guide frame complete with kill and choke line stabs and control valves to
make up complete stack.
2. One (1) Regan 24" nominal KFDS 500 psi diverter system, including handling tool and
packers. The diverter housing has a 49-1/2" ID and a single 16" x .50 wall thickness flow
line outlet. a 6” x 0.50” wall thickness lines branch off of the flow line and extend to the
Riser Gas Separator (for degassing the riser) and to the trip tank. A 12” x 0.50” wall
thickness line branches to the diverter lines forward overboard and aft overboard.
Overboard lines extend to edge of the rig under main deck level. A minimum number of
bends are in vent lines. All bends are fluid cushion targeted 90o elbows per 1990 MMS
rules.
- Three (3) 12” x 500 psi WP hydraulic actuated knife gate valves.
- One (1) 16” x 500-psi air actuated knife gate valve is installed on flow line to divert
flow to the vent lines.
- The complete system can be operated from the main panel or Driller’s panel.
- One (1) 3,000 psi WP automatic pump accumulator unit for use with subsea BOP
control system complete with seventy-four (74) 11 gallon accumulators, two (2)
electrically-driven triplex pumps with 60 hp explosion proof motors, one (1)
electrically-driven triplex pump powered on emergency power circuit, 800 gallon mixed
fluid reservoir and central manifold. This unit is equipped with a backup air supply
consisting of (3) standby 2400psi APV bottles regulated and plumbed into the control
panel in case of rig air loss.
- One (1) Diamond Offshore designed automatic fluid mixing system complete with
4,000 gallon glycol and 3,400 gallon BOP fluid reservoirs, independent filtered potable
water supply, and high low alarm system. System automatically fills the fluid reservoir
with accurately proportioned potable water & BOP fluid (and glycol during winter
months).
- One (1) Koomey graphic control panel at Driller’s position, for operation of BOPs and
diverter system with an audible and visual alarm for low pressure and fluid levels.
- One (1) graphic remote control panel located in the Toolpusher’s office, for operation of
BOPs with alarms for low pressure and fluid levels.
- Two (2) subsea pod hose storage reels with 7,000' capacity for hydraulic control hoses
(suitable for 5,500’ operating water depths). Each is fitted with a mini-control panel for
remote operation of riser connector, riser connector secondary release, stack connector,
stack connector secondary release and shear rams.
- Two (2) 7,000’ long Parker (Parflex) pod control hose bundles with one (1) 1” ID
H580N-16 hydraulic supply line and sixty-four (64) 3/16" ID 575LH-3 pilot lines.
- Two (2) Shaffer Model RHCS-60-4DF retrievable control pods complete with guide
frames. When installed on the BOP stack the two pods are 100% redundant.
a. Marine riser for 15,000 psi WP operation in water depths to 5,000’ (H2S rated).
- Shaffer Model FT 21" OD (X-80) riser complete with two (2) integral 15,000 psi
WP 5" OD x 3.00" ID (4130 mechanical tubing) choke and kill lines, one (1) 2.875”
OD x 2.323” ID (316SS tubing) hydraulic conduit line and one (1) 5" OD x 4" ID
(A106 Grade C) mud booster line. Quantity and lengths as follows:
- Fifty (50) 5/8” wall thickness, 1,315 psi collapse 75’ long
- Twenty Three (23) 11/16” wall thickness, 1,750 psi collapse 75’ long

- One (1) termination spool to be run on LMRP crossover spool which contains a
float valve and entry port for the mud circulating line. This spool is 5’ long.
- Emerson & Cumming Eccofloat 47” OD Riser buoyancy is available which will
permit the use of 18 ppg mud while equaling or exceeding all criteria for tension,
stress, angles, etc. as outlined in API RP20.

- One (1) Shaffer 55 ft. stroke slip joint complete with riser tensioning hang off lugs,
integral choke and kill lines, hydraulic conduit line, mud circulating (booster) line,
dual air/hydraulic packers.
- Two (2) 3" ID x 15,000 psi WP droop hoses rated at 180o F, and two (2) 15,000 psi
WP goosenecks for top connection to the choke and kill lines.
- One (1) 2-1/2” ID x 5,000 psi WP droop hoses and one (1) 5,000 psi WP gooseneck
for top connection to hydraulic conduit line.
- One (1) 4” ID x 5,000 psi WP droop hose rated at 180o F, and one (1) 5,000 psi WP
gooseneck for top connection to mud booster line.
♦ Note: Coflexip hoses currently installed are not compatible with Zinc Bromide.
Use of Zinc Bromide will require changing of hoses.
b. Associated equipment:
- One (1) riser handling spider.
- Two (2) Shaffer FT riser running tools with 4-1/2 IF box connections.
- 15,000 psi test caps to test choke and kill lines while running BOPs.
5. One (1) T3 15,000 psi WP H2S rated choke manifold complete with:
- Two (2) 3-1/16" x 15,000 psi WP remote adjustable choke, independently controlled. (
Power Choke )
- Two (2) 3/1/16" x 15,000 psi WP manual adjustable chokes.
- Fifteen (15) 3-1/16" x 15,000 psi WP valves.
- Four (4) 2-1/16" x 15,000 psi WP valves.
- Four (4) 4-1/16" x 10,000 psi WP valves.
- Two (2) buffer chambers (splitting the manifold).
6. One (1) Shaffer marine riser tensioning system consisting of eight (8) 50’ stroke, 160,000
lb. tensioners complete with 2-1/4” wire, control panel, air receivers, sheaves and wire
lines with a total capacity of 1,280,000 lbs. Tensioners are independently controlled and
pneumatically powered to allow single tensioner down operation. Riser and guideline
tensioning system is independent, having its own electrically powered air compressors
and air drying unit.
7. One (1) Guideline/ Pod line tensioning system consisting of four (4) Rucker Shaffer 14K x
40’ stroke and two (2) Rucker 14K x 40’ stroke tensioners complete with control panel, air
receivers, sheaves and 3/4" wire lines. Guideline storage winches are provided behind each
tensioner.
- Two (2) 150 ton overhead fixed hoists simultaneously operated capable of lifting the
entire BOP on and off of the test stump cart.
- Two (2) 75 ton overhead cranes simultaneously operated capable of traveling from well
center transversely to starboard cellar deck for LMRP maintenance.
- Two (2) hydraulic power units each deliver 51 gpm at 2000 psi for hoist operation.
- One (1) Diamond Offshore designed wellhead wash tool with rubber nose and
replaceable jets.
1. Drill pipe:
- 15,000 ft. of 5" OD, 19.50 lb./ft. Range 3, Grade S-135 drill pipe, I.E.U. with 6-5/8" OD
x 2-3/4" ID, 18o taper tool joints with NC-50-66 (4-1/2" IF) connections. Pipe internally
coated, and Arrnco 200XT hard-banded on boxes and pins.
- 20,000 ft. of 5.875" OD, 26.3 lb./ft. Range 3, Grade S-135 drill pipe, I.E.U. with7" OD
x 4" ID, 18o taper tool joints with UGDPS-55 connections. Pipe internally coated, and
Arrnco 200XT hard-banded on boxes and pins.
- 5" Nominal OD, Integral pup joints with 6-5/8” OD x 2-3/4” ID, with same connections
as above with Tensile Yield strength of 1,643,446 lbs. in following nominal overall
lengths:

2. Drill collars:
- Six (6) 9-1/2" OD x 3” ID x 31 ft. long, with 7-5/8" API Regular connections, slip
recesses (only).
- Twenty-one (25) 8" OD x 2-13/16" ID x 31 ft. long, with 6-5/8" API Regular
connections, slip recesses (only).
- Thirty (30) 6-1/2" OD x 2-13/16" ID x 31 ft. long with NC 50 (4-1/2 IF) connections,

- Thirty (30) joints of 5" Hevi-Wate drill pipe with NC-50-66 (4-1/2" IF) Connections,
Range II, 6-5/8" OD x 3" ID tool joints and with hard banding on tool joints and upsets.
