The teacher discusses the Four (4) Types of Sentence Structure.

*Simple Sentence- it consists of one (1) independent clause.

Independent clause is a group of words that has both a subject and a

verb, and expresses a complete thought.

Ex: I kicked the ball

*Compound Sentence- it contains two (2) independent clauses and these

clauses are joined by coordinating conjunctions (FANBOYS) or a
semicolon (;).

Ex: The ducks quaked and the chicks peeped

*Complex Sentence- it contains an independent clause and at least one

dependent clause.

Dependent clause is a group of words that has a subject and verb but
does not express a complete thought. It starts with subordinating
conjunctions or relative pronouns (after, although, as, because, before,
how, if, once, since, than, that, though, till, until, when, where, whether,
while).

Ex: Tom cried because the ball hit him.

* Compound-complex Sentence- it contains at least two (2) independent

clauses and at least one (1) dependent clause.

Ex: I would have purchased the cheese that you like, but it was too
expensive.
