ocurridos en 1990 y registrados en 1994. Bajo este procedimiento fue posible obtener los
nacimientos a nivel nacional y estatal por grupos de edad de las mujeres en edad fértil (MEF)
para el periodo de 1990-2006. 3
Para calcular las TFE, se usó como denominador el número de MEF por grupos
quinquenales de edad a mitad de año obtenido mediante una interpolación lineal por cohorte de las
poblaciones censales, sin considerar el Conteo de Población y Vivienda 2005, debido a que discrepa
con las tendencias que se observan en el Censo General de Población y Vivienda de 2000 y el Censo
de Población y Vivienda 2010.
El procedimiento que a continuación se desglosa, considera un crecimiento lineal entre la
población de una misma cohorte entre un momento y otro, y no considera las diferencias en las
coberturas censales, además de que es preciso aclarar que no se cuenta con más opciones –distintas a
las proyecciones- para construir el denominador de las tasas.

La tasa global de fecundidad

Uno de los indicadores que dan cuenta de la fecundidad de una población es la tasa global de
fecundidad (TGF). Su carácter sintético la hace un indicador apropiado para estudiar los niveles y
tendencias de la fecundidad no sólo a lo largo del tiempo sino que permite la comparación entre
diferentes poblaciones. La TGF sintetiza el nivel de la fecundidad a partir de las tasas de fecundidad
por edad (TFE). La TFE es un indicador de razón, es decir, resulta del cociente entre nacimientos
en un año determinado y mujeres de cierto grupo de edad en el mismo año.
La TGF al tiempo t de la entidad j se define de la siguiente manera:
