The Effect of Using Technology

In Senior High Schools

Background of the Study

Technology is everywhere--entwined in almost every part of our culture. It

affects how we live, work, play, and most importantly learn Mareco, D., (2017) Used

to support both teaching and learning, technology infuses classrooms with digital

learning tools, such as computers and hand held devices; expands course offerings,

experiences, and learning materials; supports learning 24 hours a day, 7 days a

week; builds 21st century skills; increases student engagement and motivation; and

accelerates learning. Technology also has the power to transform teaching by

ushering in a new model of connected teaching. This model links teachers to their

students and to professional content, resources, and systems to help them improve

their own instruction and personalize learning. (www.ed.gov) The effective Use of

Technology in Education has changed the face of education and it has created more

educational opportunities. Ramey, K., (2013)

Technology has the potential to be a powerful educational tool forn those that

have interest in it. For students with no interest in using technology, they will still

benefit educationally from traditional methods. Granito and Chernobilsky, (Oct.

2012) Technology usage might produce comparatively more significant increases in

academic achievement than would non-usage. Further research is warranted to

examine its effects. Al-Hariri and Al-Hattami (Feb. 2017)

Developing countries such as the Philippines are committed to infusing

schools with ICT. There is great faith that these technologies will improve teaching

and learning, and consequently afford these countries a greater stake in today's

knowledge society. Consequently, the Philippine government and the private sector

have initiated programs to provide schools with computer hardware and software,

Internet connectivity, and teacher training. Rodrigo, M. T., (2001) Use of technology

in order to attain a rich experience of learning is essential. There are a good many

examples to pattern our actions from like Presentation Tools are windows to how our

students think. Presentations can be multi-faceted and can even show the different

intelligences of our students. The challenge for us would be to develop authentic

assessments or rubrics in order to make a better evaluation and Internet is a rich

source of information. While search engines do help us a lot to make better

preparation, we need to train the students to be discerning of the information they

acquire and to respect the work of others through proper citations. Matulac, M. R.

odern world, computer technology continuously develops and increases its

field of application in every sector. In education, information technology continues to

expand its sphere of influence through various applications and projects. Interactive

application in education, such as the utilization of enriched texts in courses,

suggests that the effectiveness of computer technologies will increase in educational

environments. The tablet is considered to be the modern learning method in the

study because of its aforementioned benefits and advantages to students. The

school would take steps to facilitate in the dissemination of tablets in classrooms and
to educate students’ proper conduct on using these digital instruments. Javellana, J.

C., et al. (March 2014)

Statement of the Proble

1. What are the Benefits of the technology in learning school lessons?

Significance of the Study

This study will talk about the effects of technology in education of the school if

it will improve the performance of the students or will just ruin their studies. The

contribution of this study in the society is to tell us that technology now in this 21st

century will help the us students to make everything faster and modernized. This will

help us to confirm if using technologies in schools like e.g. tablets, laptops and

smartphones in teaching can fasten up the performance of the students.

Methodology

Data Collection

The researchers used learning logs and articles in gathering data for this

research.
