I am pleased to write this letter of recommendation on behalf of Mr. Torry Yu for any teaching position that he
is qualified for. Mr. Yu has worked the past year as one of our Permanent Building Substitute Teachers at
Geisler Middle School. The student population of Geisler is one of great diversity that ranges from cultural,
religious, racial, socioeconomic, and academic needs. Mr. Yu has done a great job working with all of the
students here at Geisler.

As a Permanent Building Substitute Teacher, Mr. Yu is asked to be available to teach any subject or grade level
in our building at a moment’s notice and he is done so seamlessly. One of the things I value about Mr. Yu is the
positive rapport he has with all the students here, along with the staff and community members. Students light
up when they find out Mr. Yu is their substitute teacher that day. Additionally, Mr. Yu is always visible and
willing to lend a hand. There are days when he does not need to cover a class and he is happy to assist our
teachers with small-group work, student testing, and classroom co-teaching, along with assisting in the
cafeteria when we are short-staffed and in the office with clerical needs.

Additionally, Mr. Yu stays very active in our community. This year, he volunteered to sponsor our student
newspaper club, The Geisler Chronicles, and has done a great job with the students in his group to produce a
comprehensive publication produced by and for our students. On top of that, he volunteered to co-chair our
PTSA Reflections competition and has chaperoned for two years our eighth grade class trip to Washington, D.C.
You can always find Mr. Yu assisting in any way he can for our school, whether it be with our school dances,
curriculum night, open house, and parent-teacher conferences.

Mr. Yu is certainly a student-centered professional who would do a great job in any school environment.
