SHAWN LANE

Shawn Lane has been recognized as the fastest guitar player ever, but from our point
of view he was primarily a composer of melodies that deeply reached the soul.
For him we made a unique Excalibur guitar that features a flat fingerboard with
probably the lowest string action in guitar making history.
He played this guitar from the day he got it, until the day he sadly died in 2003.
We kindly thank his family that allowed us to make Shawn's signature guitar series.

Bumblefoot is THE guitarist of this new generation. He has inspired musicians worldwide, has
completely overcome the guitar and is a very creative and prolific composer and arranger.
Presented here is his new Bfoot guitar. It features the pickup routing he designed and a
tremolo that rests on the body.
Bumblefoot's inventiveness made use of a sewing thimble as a bottle neck. It's been
conveniently placed on the guitar body so he can easily cover his finger.
Finally, to continue in unconventional style, this series has two different logos.

Delta Metal fingerboard

Available in 4 or 5 string, the Arpege is the state of
Vigier art. Its 10/90 bolt-on neck construction,
combined with a laminated body, give this bass
incredible response and makes it lightweight. Like on
all Vigier basses, its pickups are ultra dynamic with a
wide frequency response range. Its unique active
electronic is composed of a balance and a three
band equalizer on each pickup (2 channels / 3 band
EQ), allowing independent corrections.
Available in 4 or 5 string, the Passion has the
main construction characteristics of the Arpege
model. Its differences are the pickups that are
set close together and the electronic composed
of a balance and a 3 band equalizer. The sound
of the Passion is unique and can be percussive
with a lot of room.
 General Specifications
Comfort
The master element of the guitars sound and
comfort is the neck. It always receives
particular attention every time we develop new
concepts to improve its performance. Because
the neck is hand finished, each one can be
verified by our luthiers. They will make sure
nothing was overlooked. And our reputation is
proof that your hands will feel it!
Wood
To manufacture the neck, we use the same
maple wood selected by great classical
instrument makers for centuries. This wood is
cut in Europe's forests and dried naturally for 3
years before it will be used. The humidity level
is strictly controlled while it is stored.
10/90 Neck System™
This exclusive advanced concept of 10%
carbon and 90% wood replaces the traditional
metal truss rod with a dense carbon strip to
reinforce the neck. Employed for over 20 years
on all Vigier guitars and basses, this concept
makes the neck strong and stable during
climate change. To get a full sound, we never
believed it was logical to drill a hole through a
neck and then insert a rod of metal inside.
Necks with the 10/90 System are solid, notes
ring longer and your sound is precise and
powerful. Wood necks with truss rods are too
flexible; they absorb the energy of the string
and shorten sustain. Our 10/90 Neck System
also contributes to tuning stability because
with wood necks, the metal truss rod rubs and
causes detuning problems while using the
tremolo.
Comfort
When we design the shape we keep in mind
the harmony between the player and the
guitar. The perfect balance of the instrument
is achieved by aligning the neck with the
axis of the human body. Our guitars weigh
approximately 3Kg and are undoubtedly one
of the lightest in their category. So, for those
who play spectacular, action filled concerts,
or just endlessly somewhere, we are positive
that you'll appreciate the manageability and
lightweight.
Wood
Depending on the models, we can use alder, maple, or ash. Selected in Europe's forests, these
woods are real and solid. They are dried naturally for years in our factory before we cut them. The
body is made up of only 2 center-joined pieces not 4, or sometimes even 7 pieces like industrial
makers.

enter the discipline of fretless playing, we
developed the Delta Metal fingerboard in 1979.
Gold in color, it is immediately striking and
features a hard surface that will stay even for a
long period of time. It produces sustain
comparable to fretted instruments and is rich in
harmonics. Exclusively available on 4 string
bass models and 6 string guitars.

In order to completely protect it as well as
enhance its feel and play, a matte varnish is
sprayed on every bolt-on neck.
Hardened zero fret technology
A zero fret has always been fitted on all of our
instruments. This slightly higher fret balances
open or fretted string notes, ensures perfect
string height and minimizes string friction to
help avoid detuning when using the tremolo.
We've been able to harden it so it lasts longer
and made it removable so it's easier to replace
if needed.
Fingerboard and frets
Each fingerboard is rectified to the one
hundredth of a millimeter to ensure it's
exceptionally straight. Frets will then be fitted,
also rectified and polished meticulously.
A Phenowood™ fingerboard is used on the
Arpege, Passion and Marilyn models. Its
physical strength and stability offer excellent
wear resistance, high response, plus neat and
accurate fretting.
Traditional maple or rosewood fingerboards are
your choice for Excess, Expert or Excalibur
models.

Finish
The summit of quality is shown in our
finishes. Our master finisher sprays over 10
thin coats of varnish between numerous
sanding procedures. A minimum amount of
varnish is sprayed to avoid oversealing the
wood so it can vibrate, yet be protected like
on an acoustic instrument. After, we will wait
at least one month before we proceed with
final sanding and polishing -this is state of the
art. Please refer to the end of the catalog for
each models standard color.
 TREMOLO
Long before others,we built our own locking tremolo so we know what guitar virtuosos and heavy tremolo users need to
stay in tune. Usually,the bridge's pivot system is fitted with knives but we decided to replace them with ball bearings and
this is exclusively used on Vigier. Once the knives are worn,there is no way the tremolo can come back to its original
position because there is friction. When this happens you will have detuning problems. Our ball bearings can turn 10,000
times per minute and so are impossible to wear.

This tremolo is available on the Excalibur
Original and Custom models. It makes the
guitar virtually undetunable. The only slight
detuning problem may occur from the string's
metal stretching!
Also the tuning stability comes from the
indispensable one piece locking nut and our
zero fret that guarantees exact first fret action
height and accurate tuning.
Vigier Floyd Rose® tremolo
For your playing comfort, the saddles are hand
adjusted to precisely match the radius of the
VIGIER® 2011 and 2017 tremolos fingerboard.
These non-locking tremolos are set on the Excalibur Supra, Special, Indus, Ultra and the Expert For your convenience, the angle of the tremolo
for guitarists that are looking for a rich and crunchy sound. The perfect tuning stability is also arm can be set while you're playing and

Basses
This solid, quick-release bridge was specially
designed to fit the Vigier bass series. To
change strings, you simply lift them away. The

To help remove extraneous noise or set-up
problems, the saddles are locked into position
once adjustments are complete.
BRIDGES
Guitars
Similar to the Excalibur Surfreter, a flat mount
fixed bridge is available on the Excalibur
Supra, Excalibur Special and the Expert
guitars. It is fully adjustable and features
through-body stringing.
On the Marilyn model a solid bridge with a
tailpiece combination has been fitted.

To get perfect tuning stability we use locking machine heads in combination with
our 2011 & 2017 non-locking tremolos. Furthermore,to get better sustain -and this
is exclusive to Vigier,they are oversized.

ELECTRONICS
Depending on the model,we can fit passive or active electronics. Our commitment to offer the most up to date electronics
dates back to 1983 when we earned our credibility by being the first manufacturer to incorporate a microcomputer in our
memory guitar.

Pickups
Before any pickup is mounted on a Vigier it's
entirely controlled. Each pole is adjusted so
that the strings have a balanced output level.
Another small, but important detail is that most
standard humbuckers have two adjustment
screws however, we took the time to add a
third screw so that height or tilt adjustments
can be made easily and an equal distance
between the strings and the coils can be
achieved.
Pickup selection for the Excalibur®
and Expert® series:
When the 5-way pickup switch is in the middle
position it connects the neck and bridge pickup
together.
Details
We sprayed conductive paint inside the
electronic cavity and depending on the model,
the backplate or the pickguard to reduce hum
when playing at high volumes.
All basses have active electronics and are
powered by two 9V batteries.
