EEE 331 Additional Assignment Questions

3. An inverting op-amp circuit usig an ideal op-amp must be designed to have a gain of -500
V/V using resistors no larger than 100 kΩ.
(a) For the simple two-resistor circuit, what input resistance would result?
(b) If the circuit in Fig. 2.8 (in your PowerPoint slides) is used with three resistors of maximum
value, what input resistance results? What is the value of the smallest resistor needed?

4. Use the circuit in the Fig. of the last example in your note as an inspiration to design a
circuit that supplies a constant current IL of 3.1 mA to a variable resistance RL. Assume the
availability of a 1.5-V battery and design so that the current drawn from the battery is 0.1 mA. For
the smallest resistance in the circuit, use 500 Ω. If the op-amp saturates at ±10 V, what is the
maximum value that RL can have while the current source supplying it operates properly?

Note: To be submitted this week Friday (29/03/2019) after class. Add this to the previous two
questions given last week. Remember, any form of copying results in ZERO.
