WRITTEN REPORT (15 VOCABULARIES)


TOPIC: HOMOSEXUALITY

1. LGBT- The term LGBT refers to people who are lesbian,


gay, bisexual or transgender.
Example: The LGBT community symbolizes itself through
a rainbow flag which represents.

2. Lesbians- These are “Gay” women. They are attracted to


other women.
Example: Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi are example of
celebrity Lesbian couples

3. Transgender- identifies as someone of a different gender


than their assigned sex.
Example: Geraldine Roman is the first transgender
politician in the Philippines. Roman won a seat in the first
district of Bataan in the 2016 elections.

4. Transvestite is someone who likes to dress in clothes of


the opposite, often for sexual pleasure.
Example: Grayson Perry is an English contemporary
artist. He is known for his ceramic vases, tapestries and
cross-dressing. He likes to wear woman’s dress.

5. Androgynous- A person who is


androgynous can look either male or female.
Example: Some pop stars are like this, perhaps a pretty boy
band singer or for example Texas singer Sharleen Spiteri.
6. Gay Pride – is a movement designed to promote
equal rights and fight against violence and
discrimination. It also aims to build a gay community
and in many countries such as Brazil and Australia.
Example: There is an annual gay pride march or
parade. Common symbols of identity at these parades
include the rainbow colours, which feature in the gay pride flag.

7. Bear- A bear is a gay man who looks masculine, often has a


beard and grows hair on his chest (and, er, back).
Example: George Unda is a bear gay celebrity.

8. Jock- A jock is a gay man who works out, is muscular and


usually clean-shaven. ‘Jocks’ are in mainstream society under a
different meaning: to refer to men who are very sporty and
often stupid or arrogant and who date the local cheerleaders.

9. Twink- A twink is a young gay man who is very slim,


quite boyish looking, with no body hair.
Example: Ricky Martin might be the one true Twink of
this list because today he is openly gay. He met the
physical standards of a Twink and has transformed to
become a total idol and hot daddy of twins.

10.Dyke- A dyke is another word used for lesbian. When used within the
community, it’s ok, but can be used in a negative way by people in mainstream
society.

11.Tomboy- A tomboy is a woman who acts in a more


masculine or ‘dominant’ manner. Often she looks more
masculine in how she is built; however, women who
are classically ‘slim and pretty’ can also identify as
tomboys.
Example: Actress Kristen Stewart considered herself to
always been a Tomboy. In a premiere night she was
seen wearing a tennis shoes in the red carpet. She said
in an interview ““I have always been a tomboy,”
12.Butch- A butch lesbian is also someone who is considered more masculine or
dominant. This word can also be used for gay men.
Example: Ellen DeGeneres

13.Flaming or flaming homosexual- is used to say that


someone is obviously gay. It can be used negatively, but
also within the community to talk about someone who is
clearly gay (and easily detectable with your gaydar).

Example: Vice Ganda is a flaming homosexual.

14.Geek- A geek is a gay man who is more intellectual,


perhaps wears glasses and reads books and so on.
The photo above is an example of a geek. Geeks can
also be seen in heterosexual society.

Example: The TV hit 'Big Bang Theory' started as a


story of 4 geeks who met the lovely blonde, Penny.

15.Straightacting - is usually used for a man who seems heterosexual based on his
behaviour but in fact he’s gay.

Example: Neil Patrick Harris (left) seems heterosexual
because of his male movie roles but in fact he is an openly
gay. He came out to People magazine in 2006, saying, "I
am happy to dispel any rumors or misconceptions and am
quite proud to say that I am a very content gay man living
my life to the fullest and feel most fortunate to be working
with wonderful people in the business I love."
