Middle School Volleyball 2019-20

Team Responsibilities and Expectations

WE > ME
Our mission is to impact the lives of young people through volleyball. We use volleyball as a tool to help develop the
whole person educationally, socially, athletically, interpersonally, and spiritually. We value a partnership between
schools, coaches, parents, and athletes. This year we are adopting a WE>ME team mentality emphasizing team goals
over personal gain. Players with a WE>ME attitude give 100% at all times, focus on bettering themselves in all areas, and
strive to never let another teammate down.

1. Academic requirements: All players must meet academic requirements set forth by the administration and
the coaches to participate on the team. Athletes are students first. A failing grade for any 6-weeks grading
period could result in dismissal from the team. If academic concerns arise, please see a coach, and together we
will come up with a plan of action to maintain academic success.
2. Attendance requirements: Practice is not optional. All players are expected to attend EVERY practice.
Missed practices will result in decreased playing time and/or dismissal from the team. A signed doctor’s note is
required for missing practice. Players who miss more than one day of practice in a given week will not be
allowed to dress for that week’s game. She will be expected to attend the game and be on the sidelines with her
teammates.
3. Behavior requirements: Athletes are expected to positively represent Northview Academy at all times on
the court and in the classroom. Discipline problems that arise in practice and games will be handled accordingly.
If a player’s behavior becomes a detriment to the team, that player will be dismissed from the team. Discipline
problems at school will have consequences regarding volleyball eligibility. Discipline will be determined by the
administration and the coaching staff. A positive, team attitude is required. Please display positive attitudes in
the stands and on the sidelines at all times, we are all family and represent Northview Academy as a team unit.
Any in-school suspension will make the player ineligible for that week’s game.
4. Communication requirements: Communication is vital to the success of any team. Coaches will be
available to discuss any concerns that may arise with athlete. Concerns will NOT be discussed on game day for
any reason. Please display positive attitudes in the stands and on the sidelines at all times. Coaches will often
communicate with parents and players through text message. Please respond to let us know that you received
any information relayed in a group message. Please check the school website or our team website for
information.
5. Playing requirements: Ability and work ethic will determine playing time. We want everyone to succeed
and we will do our best to maximize the potential of all players. For no reason whatsoever will playing be
discussed with a parent or player directly following a game, ever. A positive, team attitude is required. Please
display positive attitudes in the stands and on the sidelines at all times. Please understand, as coaches, players,
and students, we strive for victory, and, as coaches, we play the athlete that we believe will help win. Coaches
will be available to discuss any concerns that may arise with athlete. We are required to be professional, please
present concerns in a professional manner.

I have read and I understand the team RESPONSIBILITIES and EXPECTATIONS for the 2016 Northview Junior Academy
volleyball team.
