I. OBJECTIVES
A. CONTENT STANDARDS:
To demonstrates understanding of key concepts of factors of polynomials, rational
algebraic expressions, linear equations and inequalities in two variables, systems of linear equations
and inequalities in two variables and linear functions.
B. PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
To formulate real-life problems involving factors of polynomials, rational algebraic
expressions, linear equations and inequalities in two variables, systems of linear equations and
inequalities in two variables and linear functions, and solve these problems accurately using a
variety of strategies.
C. Learning Competency/ Objective:
At the end of the sessions, the learners should be able to:
1. Find the greatest common factor of pair of monomials.
2. Factor completely polynomials with common monomial factor. (M8AL-Ia-b-1)
II. SUBJECT MATTER

B. Lesson Proper
Questions:
Have you ever looked around and recognized different patterns? Have you asked yourself
what the world’s environment would look like if there were no patterns? Why do you think
there are patterns around us?
(ENGAGE)
Complete Me!
This activity will help the students to recall multiplication of polynomials.
Complete the crossword polynomial by finding the indicated products below.
1
a. How did you find each product?
b. Did you encounter any difficulty in finding the products? Why?
c. What concept did you apply in finding the prodiuct?
(EXPLORE)
1. Teacher will give different polynomials.
2. Students will find the greatest common factor and give the answer in factored form.
(EXPLAIN)
(ELABORATE)
IV. EVALUATE
I. Find the greatest common factor of each pair of monomials.
1. 10𝑎 𝑎𝑛𝑑 12𝑎2 𝑏
2. 12𝑎 𝑎𝑛𝑑 36𝑎𝑏
3. 6𝑎 𝑎𝑛𝑑 20𝑎2 𝑏
2
II. Factor completely polynomials with common monomial factor.
4. 5𝑎(𝑎 + 3) − 𝑐(𝑎 + 3) 5. 6(3𝑏 − 1) + 5𝑎(1 − 3𝑏) + 4𝑐(3𝑏 − 1)
V. EXTEND
1. Find the GCF and Factor each completely.
a. 7𝑚5 (𝑚 + 𝑛) + 14𝑚3 (𝑚 + 𝑛)
b. 15𝑥 3 (𝑥 + 𝑦)2 − 30𝑥 2 (𝑥 + 𝑦) − 45𝑥(𝑥 + 𝑦)4
2. Study about on how to factor completely the difference of two squares.
