Being a teacher is a holy job because it can make the generation of a nation to be brilliant

and have good morals. There is one crusial thing to be educatators, that is an effective teacher. An

effective teacher is an educator who has good plans to increase the motivation of students to learn

more by themselves (citation). Why should be an effective teacher? Because nowadays there is

much research reveals that the role of a teacher not just about their intelligence, but they have to

pay attention to their personality. It is like the problems that often we found in education such as

lazy students, stupid, and so forth. It is not truly from the students' own factor, but there are some

external factors that cause them difficult to digest the knowledge they get. A teacher sometimes

only relies on their intelligence alone without considering other aspects of the teaching and

learning process. Because a learning process in the class it depends on the teacher responsibility

(Betts et al., 2011).

Besides that, an effective teacher also should have some criteria or requirements.

According to research that conducted by Arikan, Taser, and Sarac-Suzer (2008) they reveal that

one of the requirements to become an effective teacher is must master the material that will be

taught. Moreover teachers who have insight toward their material, moreover effective they teach

and the result will be more successful. In line with this, Walker (2010) also states the characteristic

of effective teacher itself. First, the teacher comes to the class full of readiness; second, the teacher

has good closeness with students; third, the teacher has high expectation of students; fourth, the

teacher is very creative teaching in class; fifth, the teacher is fair in treating and assessing students;

sixth, the teacher takes a personal approach with students; seventh, the teacher makes students

comfortable in the classroom; eighth, the teacher can admit his or her mistakes when making an

error; ninth, the teacher has a sense of humor; tenth, the teacher will appreciate students and will

not embarrassing; eleventh, the teacher is forgiveful and not vindictive, and; twelfth, the teacher
is very caring and know the wishes of his or her students. Furthermore, an effective teacher has an

ability to communicate in a class, has good strategic management in teaching, has feedback to

students, and his ability in increasing themselves. It means their enthusiasm, actions, and decisions

determine an interested from the students. Most teachers have a good idea about the condition in

a class, but throughout the teaching process, developing the students’ ability for studying is

important accountability (Ahmad and Aziz, 2011).
