1. Design Basis

The Softener is designed to treat the Raw water Feed hardness of 210 ppm as
CaCO3.The Ion Exchange Softener Column Will Exchange the Ca++ and Mg++
Based Total hardness( Alkaline and Non Alkaline) against the Na+ ions from Ion
Exchange Resin , Strong Acid Cation in Sodium form. The treated water will have
hardness of less than 5 ppm.

During Operation Cycle of 22 hrs , The Pre filtered Hard water will be treated at
Softener as per following reaction

2(R-Na) + CaCl2 .>>> R2Ca + 2NaCl

Resin Hardness

Where NaCl in water is Softness and R2Ca is Calcium held over Resin by
Adsorption

During Regeneration:

During the regeneration Process 12-15% of Brine (NaCl) solution is fed to the
exhausted resin coloumn for desired period and concentration

R2Ca + 2NaCl >>>> 2(R -Na) + CaCl2 ↓ (drain)

The Softener is designed having Capacity of 68 m3/hr . The operating hours will
be 22 hours. OBR will be 1496 m3.

2. Process Description

Feed Pump
Feed pump of suitable capacity is provided to pump the raw water from existing storage tank to
Softener.

Softener:
The softening process consists of passing filtered water containing hardness through a bed of
cation resin in sodium form. The hardness ions Ca & Mg are taken up by resin and in exchange
sodium ions are relinquished from the resin. Raw water will continue to get softened till the resin
gets exhausted. Bringing back the resin to its original form is called regeneration. Softener resin
is regenerated by sodium chloride of 10—15 %Concentration.

Brine tank :
Softener resin is regenerated by preparing sodium chloride solution of 10—15 %Concentration in brine
tank and passing it through the softener bed.

,50 Hz+/- 6%, 4 Wire with earthing to our MCC panel shall be in client scope.

5. Scope of work /Schedule of exclusion

A. Scope of work:
Our scope or work shall only include softener, their internals and the mechanical list mentioned above.
ALL CIVIL WORK SHALL BE IN CLIENT SCOPE
B. Our Operating manual with the plant shall comprise of

3. Catalogue of all the equipments
4. Operation and maintenance instruction
5. Troubleshooting instruction

C. Termination point/Battery Limit

D. Schedule of Exclusion:

1. All civil work including construction of foundations, drain channels, drain sumps, supports of all
types for equipments, platforms, plant building, floor finish
2. Plant room with shed
3. All external cabling (Cabling outside Softener plant)
4. All external piping to the Inlet/Permeate/Drain point of Softener plant
5. Power supply to Plant
6. Security of our product till commissioning and handover
7. Water supply at required temperature and pressure at the inlet of the equipment offered

PRICE
We will provide after confirmation of technical specification.

STATUTORY VARIATION
If there is any statutory variation in taxes & duties or imposition of new taxes and duties, it will to your
account.
VALIDITY OF OFFER
30 Days from the date of the quotation. Thereafter subject to confirmation from our end.

PAYMENT
40 % advance along with confirmed purchase order
50 % against supply of material at site on prorate basis
5 % against installation commissioning and handover

DELIVERY
Delivery of the equipments shall be done in a period of 3 months from the approval of drawings.

INTREST FOR DELAY IN INSPECTION AND DISPATCH CLEARANCE

If inspection / dispatch clearance is delayed beyond 30 days from our intimation of readiness, interest @
18% per annum shall be applicable.

WARRANTY
18 months from date of commissioning & 12 months from the date of supply whichever is earlier.

INSTALLATION/ COMMISSIONING
Installation and Commissioning shall be in Voltas scope

Power/Water/lighting/Approval for 16 hours of working per day shall be made available by the buyer

ARBITRATION CLAUSE
" Any dispute or difference whatsoever arising between the parties out of or relating to the construction,
meaning, operation, effect or breach of this Agreement shall, unless resolved amicably, be settled by
arbitration of three Arbitrators, one to be appointed by each party and the third Arbitrator (who shall act
as the Presiding Arbitrator) to be appointed by the two Arbitrators. All proceedings under such

Arbitration shall be held in Mumbai in accordance with the provisions of the Arbitration and Conciliation
Act, 1996 and any statutory modifications or re-enactment thereof. It is agreed and understood that the
Court having jurisdiction over - alone shall be competent to entertain any Application or
Petition pertaining to the Arbitration Agreement and/or arbitral proceedings pursuant to this Clause.”

FORCE MEJEURE
Applicable due to natural Calamities and also applicable to Voltas and its Vendors.
