CNN returns to Korea for a week of live coverage with ‘i-List’

- Part of CNN’s “November is Asia” month featuring Asia’s Innovation, Industry and
Intelligence -

As part of CNN’s dedicated month of programming from across Asia, the network’s iList comes to South
Korea from November 6th ~ 12th for a look into how South Korea is influencing and impacting the world.
Every weekday Anna Coren reports live from landmarks around Seoul while CNN’s correspondents offer
insights into various aspects of Korean technology, culture, entertainment, environment and business.

The week’s programming starts off with CNN in Jeju to visit the island’s nine natural wonders, named by
UNESCO as World Heritage sites. CNN’s Paula Hancocks get a tour from one of Jeju’s committed
geologists, who explain how he works to preserve the area’s natural beauty while still allowing visitors to
enjoy all it has to offer. CNN also looks at tax incentives on offer to attract overseas investments especially
from Chinese nationals looking for holiday homes in Korea.

CNN also visits Hyundai Heavy Industries, South Korea’s largest ship builder, trying to rise to the top in
another high tech industry: alternative energy. The company is rapidly expanding into solar and wind
power manufacturing.

Beef is a big deal in South Korea and locally-bred “Hanu” cattle are celebrated for their meat’s freshness
and flavor, even though the prices far exceed those of foreign imports. CNN visits a small family farm, like
many that still raise Hanu, and talks to a culinary expert about why “Hanu” is so special.

The Seoul Metropolitan Traditional Orchestra is stretching the boundaries of Korean music, working to
popularize the native art abroad. The group’s lively performances incorporate music, dance and the use of
authentic instruments. The musicians take a break from their latest rehearsal to explain their craft and give
CNN a private little lesson.

CNN’s Anna Coren, who will be reporting live from Seoul, will also share with viewers how the Korean
Wave “Hallyu” has developed in to an industry as well as other interesting aspects of the country’s
dynamic gaming, entertainment and IT industries.

CNNGO's tour through Asia's most dynamic cities makes a stop this month in Seoul, South Korea.

A stellar cast of local characters helps us explore the meteropolis and provides insight beyond that of any
guidebook.
A rising star in the world of architecture, Jiwon Baik, takes viewers for a stroll through Garosugil, a tree-
lined street that's home to artists, hipsters and fashionistas. We head to the hills with Actor/Model Daniel
Henney, who shows us a unique and stunning view of the city below. Legendary Korean Photographer
Kim JungMan discusses how Seoul has preserved its history. We take a trip through a park that was once
a reservoir. We're welcomed by charismatic street performers in Daehakro and also pay tribute to Korean
Icon Nam June Paik. And, as if that weren't enough, we also catch-up with one of Korea's biggest pop
stars, Lee Hyo-Ree, as well as renowned actress Jeon Do-Yeon.

Minsuk Cho has been shaping Seoul's skyline for more than a decade. A protégé of the dutch design
powerhouse Rem Koolhaas, Cho has now firmly made a name for himself among
architects internationally. The award-winning designer is known for his concept-redefining skyscrapers
and unusual buildings which can be found in South Korea and the U.S.. The architect also created
buzz at the recent 2010 World Expo in Shanghai after designing the alphabet-inspired South Korea
Pavilion. Talk Asia’s Anjali Rao traveled to Seoul where Cho showed us some of his city-changing
projects and shares his vision of the future of the city.

CNN will also once again connect to its audiences on the ground. A CNN kiosk will be built around the
Hongdae area for local visitors to learn more about CNN’s programming and receive special CNN
memorabilia. Visitors are also invited to help spread the word about CNN’s special coverage for which they
will be given an opportunity to visit CNN ‘s Asia Headquarters and Studios in Hong Kong.

CNN’s 3rd in-country special in South Korea brings live filming, A-list interviews and in-depth reports to
more than 260 million households around the world, while Korean audiences can be sure to gain global
insights into how the rest of the world sees the country and its people. More information about the special
programming and events can be found @cnninternational or cnn.com/ilist.
