Buddy Policy

To facilitate the New Employee’s integration with the organisational culture, this will pairs up
new Employee informally to more experienced peers to help welcome employees
understand about Organisational culture, procedures and practices and reaffirm their
decision to join.

1. Applicability

1.1. This Policy shall be applicable to all employees in all the locations of Ambica
Steels Limited.

2. Purpose
The purpose of new employees being assigned a buddy is to:
2.1. Help welcome employees and reaffirm their decision to join us.
2.2. Provide new employees with a reliable, motivated, single point-of-contact for
basic questionsfor the period of initial 1 month
2.3. Build on the knowledge obtained in the New Employee Orientation and
department orientation
2.4. Enable new employees to become knowledgeable about department
practices and organizational culture in a shorter period
2.5. Ensure that routine queries regarding basic operational issues are dealt with
expeditiously
2.6. Reduce the initial confusion and uncertainty faced by all new employees
2.7. Maximize the productivity of manager/new employee meetings by allowing
them to focus on job-specific issues
2.8. Increase the new employee’s self-confidence allowing him/her to focus on
adding value to the organization

3. Buddy Selection Criteria


Hiring managers are responsible for selecting a buddy for their new employee.
Selections should be based on the following characteristics:
3.1. Demonstrates strong performance
3.2. Is given time to be accessible to the new employee
3.3. Has patience and good interpersonal skills
3.4. Wants to be a buddy
3.5. Is well regarded and accepted by current employees

4. Buddy Responsibilities
4.1. Contact and meet with the new employee on Day after the Basic Orientation
4.2. Have lunch and a meeting with the new employee at least once a week
4.3. Act as an informational resource on policies and procedures
4.4. Help socialize the new employee to Ambica Steels’s guidelines, norms and
culture
4.5. Answer general/routine questions
4.6. Ensure an open communication between the new employee and the buddy,
respectingconfidentiality

6. Buddy Training
Buddy should be aware / trained on following aspects before he / she be associated
with the new Employee:
6.1. Brief regarding responsibilities as a Buddy
6.2. Receiving adequate support for participating in buddy program
6.3. Positive side effects for him / her self

7. Reward & Recognition


At the time of Annual Performance Appraisal - Success Rate ofBuddys for retention
& grooming will be taken into consideration
