EDITORIAL... ✍ Save Sri Ahobilam Temple
Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple Ahobilam is the principle seat of Sri
Ahobila Mutt a denominational institution and is administered by the Mattadhipathi in
succession for several centuries’ right from the founding of the Mutt as per the religious
mandate of the principal deity Lord Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Himself. The
Mattadhipathis in succession have been carrying out the command of the principal
deity to the first Mattadhipathi Sri AdivanSatagopanYatindraMahaDesikan for several
centuries with utsavamurthy of the temple Sri Malola Narasimhan. “Go from door
to door taking me with you and minister to the, wellbeing of the disciples. Be
their Guru, purify them with my (Vishnu’s) emblems of the conch and the discus
and instruct them in the Ashtaksharam, Dwayam, and Charama Sloka.”
The Mutt today has several crores of devotees all over the world and its
Mattadhipathis have toiled hard to preserve Hindu religion in this country from several
onslaughts including the restoration of Ahobilam temple as recorded historically.
The Endowments Department has been trying to takeover the Ahobilam temple
for decades and in 2002 the then Endowments Minister in the floor of the assembly
said that it is not possible due to Art 26 of the Constitution even under the draconian
AP Endowments Act 30/87. The Supreme Court had clarified that the abolition of hereditary
trusteeship is not applicable to the Mattadhipathi thus the draconian provisions of
the AP Endowments Act 30/87 is not applicable to Sri Ahobilam temple. In 2014 when
the previous Government tried to constitute a non-hereditary trust board for the temple
the above fact was brought to the notice of the Hon’ble Governor which resulted in
the said notification being cancelled. After this the Department has been trying to
takeover the institution through backdoor. Finally, the Mattadhipathi decided to approach
the AP High Court against this backdoor approach to takeover the temple. There has
so far been no response to this petition from the State of AP nor the Commissioner
Endowments but the Assistant Commissioner who has claimed powers of Executive
Officer has been acting detrimental to the interests of the institution against the interim
orders of the AP High Court which had directed that he function under the administrative
control of the Jeer. Temples Protection Movement had also represented to the Hon’ble
Chief Minister Shri Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on 8 th July 2019 (reproduced). When
the interference continued unabated on the orders of the Peetadhipathi a notice was
given dated 27th July 2019 (reproduced)
The way the Acharyas and devotees responded to restore the Brindavan of
Shri Vyasaraja Tirtha in record time when it was desecrated has united the Hindu
community like never before and it is time to now protect our temples under State
control from spiritual destruction. Let us make a beginning by standing in solidarity
with the Matadhipathi of Sri Ahobila Mutt in his fight against the takeover of Sri Ahobilam
Temple by the AP Endowments Department. Let us also represent to the Supreme
Court to have daily hearing of Swami Dayananda Saraswati case so that this menace
of State Govt control of Hindu Religious Institutions through such draconian legislations
such as 30/87 Act is ended once for all and Hindu Temples are restored back to the
community.

HAVE YOU READ THE BOOK ....... "THE LORD AT YOUR CALL" Vol. - II
We at VAK are blessed to bring out the second volume in the series of books
on Anecdotes on Vishnu Sahasranama authored by Sri V S Karunakaran Swamy.
Sri V S Karunakaran Swamy started this mammoth never before project of explaining
the significance of the 1000 names. Since the English meaning of this hymn is
given in this work, many in this country and those living abroad, will welcome it.
Every name is a mantra by itself, some with two and some ranging up to eight
words. The hymn is an antidote for all ills.
As the author mentioned the benefits which will accrue by reciting the various
name of Vishnu, it has been practically experienced by Devotees at Chilkur Balaji
temple who are the regular readers of VAK in which these Anecdotes have been
serialised. There is immortal ecstasy that can be experienced by chanting these
names individually.
The second Volume has been released on 6th September 2017, as a part of
the Saptatipoorthi celebrations of the Author Sri V S Karunakaran. You can find
the devotees chanting these names endlessly at the Balaji Temple Chilkur. The
benefit of chanting individual names for particular needs to be granted by Almighty
