The heat transfer oil circulation and liquid asphalt control is critical for daily asphalt mix production. Liquid asphalt
must be heated and maintained above 275° Fahrenheit (135° Celsius) for proper flow and usage. The lines and
pumps must be heated to allow the liquid to flow efficiently. Any lines or areas with out hot oil jacketing will allow the
liquid asphalt to cool and harden. When the tank, pump and supply lines are supplied from ADM, Inc., all related
items will have sufficient hot oil jacketing.
An optional flexible jacketed hot oil line kit can be purchase to connect the liquid asphalt pump skid to the drum
injection line. This kit and several fittings will allow sufficient heating of the supply line. Consideration must be
allowed for the length from skid to injection line.
Concentric bells are used from the factory to mate the outer pipe over the inner pipe. Protect the threaded ends of the
inner pipe with couplings while building. Two ¾” ports are welded to the outer pipe to allow the hot oil to circulate
around the inner pipe. The ports should be attached on the opposite ends and on opposite sides of the pipe. After
assembly has been welded, a low-pressure leak test should be performed.

All hot oil plumbing should be plumbed for flow in low ¾” flexible lines or rigid piping
and out at the higher fittings. Flex lines should not be
installed with tight bends. 2” Hot Oil Jacketed flexible
