The Honorable Grover C. Robinson,IV

Mayor of Pensacola

Mr. Tommi Lyter

Chief of Police
Pensacola Police Department

Mr. Chris Holley

City Administrator

Dear Mayor Robinson, Chief Lyer, and Mr. Holley:

We have received your letter formally requesting the expertise and resources of the United
States Attorney's Office, as well as multiple federal agencies, to help actively enhance your public
safety priorities as you address gun violence in the City of Pensacola. Very simply, the answer is
an emphatic "Yes" for whatever appropriate assistance we can provide to your important efforts
to protect the quality of life of law-abiding residents in your community.

The United States Attorney's Office is here to support the vital efforts of our law
enforcement partners at the local, state, and federal levels across the Northern District of Florida.
We look forward to actively cooperating, coordinating, and collaborating with the City
of Pensacola and the Pensacola Police Department to address these significant concerns. We also
will access a wide range of Department of Justice expertise and resources to provide appropriate
training for Pensacola Police Department personnel.

Pensacola is indeed, as you describedit, a "shining jewel" recognized by all of us in the

northern region of Florida. In response to your request, we have already engaged in strategic
conversations with an iuray of Department of Justice agencies that have agreed to dedicate their
expertise and resources to work as a united force with the Pensacola Police Department in this
vital operation, including the U.S. Marshals Service and its Florida/Caribbean Regional Fugitive
Task Force, as well as the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), the
Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). In
addition, we will coordinate, as appropriate, with the Office of the State Attomey and the Florida
Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), as well as the surrounding local and regional law
enforcement agencies whose desired participation in this joint effort will enhance our task force
moving forward.

As you know, in response to an increase in gun violence in Tallahassee and Leon County,
a similar coordinated initiative is underway there that has produced several dozen arrests of wanted
felons and the seizure of weapons, drugs, cash, and other illicitly utilized items. The objective
there, as it will be in Pensacola, is to make the streets safer for the public.

Working together, I am confident we will make a meaningful difference to improve the

safety and well-being of the Pensacola community. We look forward to following up with you
immediately to get the operational plan developed and in place to keep Pensacola safe.
