that football has become the defining cultural entit y it is now; something which unites, divides

The football fan and their needs are central to the ac tivities of all involved in the game but as
football has involved with the globalization of the modern world so too has the modern fan. They
have more choices, less time and higher expec tations than ever before. They are more diverse and

Modern football coaching, like modern busines s, is heavily reliant on the collec tion and analysis
of data to improve per formance and on the use of innovation to gain a competitive advantage
– whether that is through the formations used on the pitch or the technology used on the
training ground. Where once this willingness to embrace technology was what distinguished a
