influence it, and ways of maintaining and enhancing it;
Specific Expectations
B1.1 - identify the dimensions of wellness and describe how they relate to each other
and how an understanding of their interrelationship can be used to enhance personal
health;
B1.2 - describe the factors that contribute to personal wellness and support healthy
living.

3. Content
What do I want the learners to know and/or be able to do?
Today learners will:
explore the dimension of physical wellness;

examine traditional foods that support wellness;

describe traditional foods once available and still available in our communities.

4. Assessment (collect data) / Evaluation (interpret data)


(Recording Devices (where applicable): anecdotal record, checklist, rating scale, rubric, etc.)
-Using the following chart as a way for both your student’s to organize their thoughts or an alternative to
the Video and as a checklist for you as a teacher

5. Learning Context
A. The Learners
(i) What prior experiences, knowledge, and skills do the learners have?
- Being able to write and list items
- Know what Canada’s food guide, the one that includes tradition al food, and how to read and use it
- understand the daily number of servings for each food group
- be able to create and edit audio and visual videos
(ii) How will I differentiate the instruction?
- List 5 instead of 10 for traditional foods “Still Enjoyed Today”. So, student will have total of 10
foods in chart.
- Use just the chart instead of creating a video

B. Learning Environment
Online, forum, wiki, etc
- Online forum
- Final videos/charts are posted in a wiki, separated by community

C. Resources/Materials
- Computer
- Ipad or Computer Camera
- Access to elders/knowledge holders

6. Lesson Structure ( New Lesson / Continuation of Previous Activity)

Beginning
- Lesson is opened up with brief discussion on the lesson from last week and what traditional
foods are, how they are eaten, their importance, etc.
- Students are then presented on the benefits of traditional foods and their importance
Middle/Inquiry
- Here students are expected to read over the provided document. They are also expected to go
out into their individual communities and interview their elder’s on traditional foods and
practices (and to complete the extension activity if desired)
Final
- Students create their traditional foods video and edit it to put images in.
- Videos are then compiled and placed on pour classes wiki.
