PDetector Quick Start Guide

Congratulations on purchasing a new PMDT product, the best Partial Discharge Detector in the world. We have
provided this Quick Start Guide for your convenience. More detailed information can be found in our Product
Manual and Software Manual provided in digital format on the Mass Storage device inside the PDetector unit.

Before getting started, please be sure to read and understand the Safety and Warning Sections of the manual
because your safety is always paramount. Although our product is non-intrusive and very safe to use, working
around HV electrical equipment requires safe work practices and understanding your environment and
instrument limitations.

PDetector Kit includes:

1. Main Unit 2. Accessories

3. Sensors

Attachments vary by Kits.

Basic Operation:
1. Power on by pressing the ”on/off ” button (hold button until screen comes on)
2. Select menu options by pressing buttons ”up, down, left, right, OK, ESC”
3. Select your language
4. Select test method in the main menu: TEV,AE/ Ultrasonic,
UHF or HFCT (you will utilize a different sensor for each method)
5. Adjust parameters and display range if necessary
6. Scan the selected test point of high-voltage electrical equipment(such as GIS, transformers, cables,
switchgear)
7. Save the test data for each test completed
It is important to make sure the PDetector’s Date and Time settings are set correctly. To accomplish this, follow
these steps: Main Menu > System Settings > Others> Time. The PDetector references date and time to create
a file name for the data that you save onto the device so be sure to complete this step thoroughly.

Get setup files of PDetector software and Manuals from the main unit
To access the manuals and software stored internally, set the device to “Mass Storage Mode”: Main Menu >
System Settings > Others > USB Settings > Mass Storage. Once this option is selected, the PDetector will
display as an external storage device in “My Computer” when connected to the computer via the USB cable
provided. From here you can transfer over the files from the PDetector to the computer. Do not forget to set it
back to the Software Interface mode in order to save test files to the memory or when needing to interact
with the software.

How to install PDetector software?


First step: Plug in USB dongle, then get the driver setup file and install it. The driver setup file's name is "Sentinel
Protection Installer.exe".

Second step: Install the PDetector software program. The name of the setup file is "PDetector.exe". It is strongly
recommended that do not install the software on the disk C.

Third step: Plug in USB dongle, then start PDetector software by double click the icon" "with your mouse.

Warranty
Warranty period of this equipment is twelve months after the date of shipment. PMDT guarantees the
equipment will be free of electrical and mechanical defects or malfunctions. PMDT is not responsible for
damage caused by shipping. PMDT will repair/replace defective instruments at no cost to the customer.
