a. Identify the basic needs of humans, animals, and plants.

b. Compare the similarities and differences in the basic needs of humans, animals, and plants.
c. Show appreciation and understanding on the importance of meeting the basic needs of humans,
animals, and plants.

How are you this morning? We are fine ma’am!
That’s good to hear from you!

So to start our class, may I request ( Together teacher and pupils began praying)
everyone to stand for a prayer.

1. Motivation

How do you know when you are hungry? Our stomach grumbles or growls
We feel weak. Stomach aches
No energy and no strength
What did you do to regain your strength?
We ate food.
When you are thirsty,what do you feel?
Weak, throat dryness
Do you think you can survive without eating food or
drinking water in a couple of days? No
 2. Presentation
This morning we will discuss about “ The
Basic Needs of Human, Animals and Plants”.

3. Discussion

Activity: I will group you into three.

What you will do is to list down the things Pupils will do the task.
that human, animals, and plants need necessary for (Pupils’ answers may vary)
them to live. Group 1 will be assigned to list human
needs, Group 2 animals’ need and Group 3 Plants’
need. Once you are done post your work on the
board. Give each group manila paper and pentel
pen to do the activity.

Ouestion: From the activity that you have, What is Basic Needs are those things which human, animals
your idea about basic needs? and plants need necessary to live and sustain life.

(Teacher will ask the groups about the activity that

they perform)
What are the things or basic needs that humans
need in order for them to live? In what ways do
these needs help them.
Human needs air, water, food, shelter, sunlight and
clothing for us to live. We need air to breathe to
supply our body oxygen; we need food to give us
energy, shelter and clothing to protect us and help
us feel safe and sunlight to give us warmth.

What component of air do human needs for Oxygen

breathing?

If humans have needs, what about animals, what do Like humans, animals’ basic needs are similar to
they need? humans, only that animals doesn’t need clothing.

Why not? Why do animals doesn’t need clothing?
When you say similar, does it mean that the kind of
food they eat, the type of water they drink, the kind
of shelter/habitat they are living is the same?
Animals don’t need clothing because they have
coverings naturally design to protect them from
high and low temperatures and so from other
animals that may harm them.
No.

What about plants? What are the basic needs of

plants? Plants need air, water, food and sunlight to live.

Do plants breathe?
Do it breathe the same as animals and humans, Yes
Like inhaling or exhaling the air? No. It breathe through a process called respiration.
Do it breathe the same air as humans and animals?
No. Plants uses carbon dioxide in respiration.

What do you understand about Basic Needs?How

important those needs are to us (human), animals Basic needs are essential and necessary to all living
and plants? things (human, animals and plants) because
 those needs are the key factors to continually
sustain life and survive. That is why it is important
that those needs are met and satisfied.

Clothing
Yes. There are similarities and differences of the
Basic needs of Humans, Animals and Plants: such as
the Air. Air is commonly shared need of humans,
animals and plants for breathing but the
component of air that they use to breath is
different. Humans and animals use oxygen for
breathing while plants use carbon dioxide. Also the
variety of food and the kind of water that humans
and animals eat and drink is different.
