I. General Information
1.1 Digital Geological Survey Technology
Digital Geological Survey Technology is developed by CGS since 1999. The technology contains the
rd
PRB granularity theory, PRB digital mapping system and the 3 generation of geological map spatial data
model. It realized the digitalization of the whole process of regional geological survey. Since 2004, CGS
began to promote the technology throughout the country. As so far, CGS has distributed more than 15,000
sets of the Digital Geological Survey System and trained more than 12,000 geologists. All the geological
mapping projects are being carried out with Digital Mapping technology in China. The DGSS has become
mainstream software and common tools in China Geological Survey.
From 2010 to 2016, China had organized 7 Training Courses on Geological Mapping Capacity
Building for ASEAN Member Countries, which were jointly sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
and the Ministry of Finance of the People’s Republic of China. Totally about 200 delegates from ASEAN
countries had participated the training courses. Experts from China had discussed the mapping theoretical
principles and carried out the field trip to practise the DGSS mapping technologies together with the
ASEAN delegates. In 2015 and 2016, China has also organized the training Courses on Digital Geological
Mapping for some countries, e.g. Laos PDR , Malaysia, Peru. Under the mutual endeavours of the
experts both from China and ASEAN member countries, the delegates had successfully mapped out their
own field works, and the training turned out to be a big success.
The training course of this year is going to be held on in November 2018 in Nanning, the provincial
capital city of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of southwest China. English will be the official
working language.
1.2 About IGDP
ASEAN states will benefit in integrated geological, geophysical and geochemical data processing
and data management in both geological survey and mineral resource exploration, not only from
technology and capacity building for all the participant professional staffs, but also form free advanced
software packages provided by this project, and also consulting even solving existing problems in
targeting deposit prospecting areas during the training.

CGS had successfully organized two workshops/training courses of Integrated Geophysical and
Geochemical Data Processing (IGDP) in Beijing in 2015 and 2016 for some 50 participants from AMS.
40 Geophysical and geochemical data processing software packages based on GIS were presented to the
participants free of charge, and most of them are used by the participants back to their office in mineral
exploration and data management. Workshop of next month will also focus on the methodology and
software use in geological, geophysical and geochemical data processing and integrated interpretation
with mineral exploration data, maps and information. Face to face discussion with experts during a visit
to local institute in Guangxi province is also planned at this workshop.
CGS and CCOP had successfully organized three workshops/training courses of Integrated Geophysical
and Geochemical Data Processing (IGDP) in Kunming and Beijing in 2013,2014 and 2015 for some 98
participants from CCOP and ASEAN states. 60 Geophysical and geochemical data processing software
packages based on GIS were presented to the participants free of charge, and most of them are used by
the participants back to their office in mineral exploration and data management. Workshop of next
March will also focus on the methodology and software use in geological, geophysical and geochemical
data processing and integrated interpretation with mineral exploration data, maps and information. Face
to face discussion with experts during a visit to local institute in Guangxi province is also planned at this
workshop.
we are pleased to invite four(2) to six(4) nominees from each AMS to join above training.
