Performance Standard The learners transfer learning by: showing ways of asserting one’s
identity, simple past and past perfect tenses.

Content Standard The learners demonstrate understanding of: simple past and past perfect
tense.
Learning Competencies EN7G-III-h-3: Use the past and past perfect tenses correctly in varied
contents.

I. LEARNING OUTCOMES

a. Identify the simple tense in verb.


b. Demonstrate the Simple past, present and future tense of the verb.
c. Construct sentences using the tenses of the verb correctly.

III. INSTRUCTIONAL PROCEDURES

A. Preliminary Activities

1. Review
Student are asked about the definition of “Active Voice and Passive Voice” and
they are o provide examples.

What is Active Voice?

 The subject performs the action denoted by the verb.

Examples:

The man must have eaten five burgers

Marilyn mailed the letter

What is Passive Voice?

 The normal word order of many active sentences (those with a direct object)

Examples:

Five hamburgers must have been eaten by the man.

The letter was mailed by Marilyn.

2. Motivation

The class are divided into 2 groups, they have to guess the word by using the
pictures and show the pictures with jumbled letters below it.

2. Performing Activity

VERB MACHINE

In this product you get 3 x games (different words in each game)


Machine 1: Past Tense
Machine 2: Present Tense
Machine 3: Future Tense

Students take turns to play the game.


Players place a counter on each word after they say the verb in the correct tense.
Players can use the sentence starters to assist putting verbs into the correct tense.

3. Processing Activity
The students are asked to identify the Past Tense, Present Tense and Future
Tense. Underline the Verb Tense.

1. She kissed me on the cheek. (Past)

3. Susan will have finished her studies before she gets married. (Future)
4. She stayed up all night because she had received bad news. (Perfect)

4. Reinforcing the Concept/Skill

Direction: Underline the verb or the verb phrase in the sentences. Write PS if the
sentence is in Past Tense, PST if it is in the Present Tense and FT if it is in the
Future Tense.

5. Summarizing the Lesson

Ask the students the definition of Past, Present and Future Tense.

Past Tense- a tense expressing an action that has happened or a state that
previously existed.

Present Tense- Use a form of the verb “To have, had, has”

Future Tense- a tense expressing an action that has not yet happened or a
state that does not yet exist.

6. Applying to the new and other situation

“A Cartoon Video Presentation” – Divide the class into 3 groups, the PAST
group, PRESENT and the FUTURE group. They will watch a short cartoon
video presentation they will give a 5 minutes to write the sentences according
to the Tense that they are assigned.

IV. ASSESSMENT

The Student make a Past Tense, Present Tense and Future Tense. Write Past, Present and
Future Tense sentences to describe the pictures.
