Control Loop Readouts
3
Control Loop Readouts
If the ALT button is held down, the DEV readout displays half
the denominator of the proximity-to-surge calculation (flow),
while the SP readout displays its numerator [minimum flow =
f(head)]. If that flow falls below that minimum and compressor
does not surge, the surge limit setting are incorrect.
4
Control Keys and LEDs
The Raise and Lower keys vary the actuator control signal
when manual operation is selected.
5
Control Keys and LEDs
CAUTION:
To avoid repeated surging, do not press the SURGE RESET key
while its LED is lit unless the causes of the surging have been
identified and corrected.
7
Control Keys and LEDs
The Yellow POC LED is lit when the recycle flow rate is
elevated by the Performance Override control feature.
8
Status LEDs and Screen
The Sates LEDs and Screed section of the front panel consisit of:
- the controller Fault and Alarm LEDs
- a ten-character by four-line Status Screen
- three buttons for operating that screen’s Menu System
The Red Fault LED lights, the status screen displays “No
Comms with Main CPU”, and all other display elements turn off if
the engineering panel is unable to communicate with the CPU.
This usually means the control program is no longer executing
and an alternate means of control should be immediately
activated.
CAUTION:
If the Fault LED lights or any Fault relay de-energizes, the analog output
signal should be immediately disconnected from its control element (the
connected circuits often includes relay that do so)

ESD Indicates emergency shutdown has opened the antisurge valve as fast as
possible
OFF Indicates this controller is modulating its valve to satisfy the recycle
requirements of companion valve sharing controller, even though its own
compressor is shut down
PURGE Indicates the valve is being held fully closed to allow residual process gas
to be flushed from the compressor
TRACK Indicates this controller is operating as a redundant back-up for another or
iis tracking a designated analog input.

Status LEDs and Screen
Lit when any alarm condition is detected, and turn off after all
such problems are corrected. If it is lit, use and to
display this screen:

Analog In Menu
Pressing the MENU button while any screen is visible will
display the scaled value of one analog input on the fourth
line, the third line is configurable eight-character name.
Pressing SCROLL repeatedly will cycle through the screens for all
of the enabled Measured Variable
18
Status LEDs and Screen
Pressing the SCROLL button will cycle through the enabled screens, each
of which displays one or two of these variables:
• Sigma and Hpr are Polytropic Head Exponent and Reduced Head
• Rc is the Compression Ratio
• Rt is the Temperature Ratio
• Flow is the calculated flow or the estimated measured pressure drop
across an orifice plate
• UsrQ is the displayed Net Flow, which is calculated by subtracting a
calculated recycle flow from the Displayed Flow
In the event that one or more of the inputs used to calculate these
variables fail, the controller can substitute default values or the calculated
variable (Fallback Strategies). The resulting fallback value would then be
displayed.

Alarms Menu
Pressing the MENU button while any screen is visible will
display the health of the analog inputs, recycle valve output,
intercontroller communications, and CPU/IO PCB voltages.
Each problem’s abbreviation is displayed only if it exists:
• Tran : One or more analog inputs are beyond their acceptable ranges
(Transmitter Fail). The failed input can be identified by scrolling the
Analog In Menu.
• OutF : Analog output failure
• Comm 1 : Transmissions are not being received from a controller
• Comm 2 : Transmissions are not being received from a load sharing or
performance override master
• Comm 1&2 : Both problem exist at the same time
• 24V : Power supply failure (not providing an acceptable voltage to the
CPU/IO PCB
• 15V, 5V, or 3V : the voltage from the corresponding power converter is
below its acceptable minimum, and the CPU/IO PCB needs to be
replaced.

Function Menu
Pressing the MENU button while any screen is visible
will display the argument and computed values of one
of this controllers Characterizing Functions.
• The Y Coordinate Characterizer
• The Reported Flow Characterizer
• The X Coordinate Characterizer
• The General Characterizer
• The Balancing Variable Characterizer
• The recycle Flow Characterizer
