JOB FAIR ACTIVITY

BACKGROUND:

Job Fair is an employment facilitation strategy aimed to fast-track the meeting of


jobseekers and employers/overseas recruitment agencies in one venue at the specific
date to reduce cost, time and effort particularly on the part of the applicants. This is open
to all unemployed, skilled and unskilled workers and employees seeking advancement.
During the Job Fairs, applicants select vacancies suited to their qualifications and
employers could interview and hire on the spot qualified applicants. Several agencies are
likewise invited to provide information on their various programs and services and be able
to offer self-employment opportunities and training assistance to the interested
jobseekers.

The Eastern Visayas State University will conduct a Job Fair thru PESO. The aims
of this activity is to link employment opportunities to the newly graduate and had
graduated students of the University. This is one the strategies that the office is doing to
help minimize unemployed rate and be able to promote a link gainful employment to the
people. In line with the conduct of this activity, the office will also hold a one-day PRE-
JOB REGISTRATION and EMPLOYMENT COACHING ACTIVITY at least one week prior to
the Job Fair Event. These activities aim to provide jobseekers with important knowledge
on employment application process, enhance their work ethics and likewise equip them
with the necessary employment document preparations before they formally apply during
the job fair activity.

OBJECTIVES:

1. To bring the PESO’s employment facilitation program to the reach of the poor,
unemployed and displaced workers in the region.
2. To provide venue for immediate meeting of jobseekers and people engaged in
recruitment in order to minimize the transportation and other expanses which may
be incurred by applicants should they go to Manila or Cebu areas where vacancies
are available.
3. To assist in the manpower sourcing of employers/recruitment agencies particularly
in identified areas where areas where skill are highly in demand or are available.
4. To support the PESO’s and DOLE’s anti-illegal recruitment campaign by providing
the jobseekers access to legitimate employment assistance.
5. To provide training and self-employment assistance.
6. To provide welfare services to OFW’s and their dependents.
7. To provide information on Worker’s Social Protection.

GENERAL PROCEDURE:

1. New applicants, go to the registration Area and fill-up the necessary SRS Form.
2. Previously registered applicants at the Tacloban Public Employment Service Office
(PESO), proceed to the Selection Area to canvass for vacancies.
3. Applicants choose the position that best fits their qualification. Must take note of
the Company’s name then proceed to the agency’s booth for more information.
4. Applicants must listen carefully to the instructions of the Interviewer. If the
applicant is not qualified, he may look for other vacancies on at the Selected area.
5. For pre-selected applicants for overseas employment: Follow-up your application
at the PESO in your areas or wait for telegram/notice from the recruitment agency.
Before proceeding to Manila, present telegram/notice to DOLE-RO/EPD for proper
clearance.
6. For those seeking training assistance, please proceed to TESDA booth for interview
and scheduling.
7. For those who are seeking self-employment assistance, proceed to self-
employment booth.
8. For overseas Filipino workers and their dependents seeking welfare services,
please proceed to OWWA both for interview.
9. For inquiries on Social protections, proceed to SSS, Phil-health and Pag-I big Fund.
