Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office 753 Waterman Drive, Watertown, NY 13601 Phone: (315) 788-1441 Fax: (315) 786-2684 Wednesday, August 7, 2019 ‘At 4:20 pm today’s date, the Sheriff's Office responded to 20922 South Shore Rd, (Point Peninsula) in the Town of Lyme for a report of a water rescue. Preliminary investigation reveals that 20 year old Ryan David Orbaker from Lyons, New York had been swimming just off shore in Lake Ontario when for unknown reasons he went under water and did not resurface. A member of the STAR team was able to quickly locate him and bring him to shore. Attempts to resuscitate Mr. Orbaker were unsuccessful. An autopsy is tentatively scheduled for Friday, August 9", 2019.
