After Eucleides and the boys return home. Dinner Cornelius and Sextus were sitting in the area.

“What have seen today, boys?” asked Cornelius. “Nothing other then old buildings,” Marcus
responds. ‘We want to go into the city alone. Why isn’t it allowed?” Cornelius responds “It is
dangerous to go into the city with no guardian. There are evil men that steal citizens’ stuff.
Sometimes they kill citizens by themselves. Therefore you are forbidden to go out there with no
guardian. It is already late. Now it is necessary that you go to bed. Go now!” Boys, tired from
work of the day, have gone to sleep as soon as the have went to bed. Earlier in that following
day Marcus was lying on his bed and thinking about the Circus Maximus: When will we visit the
Circus Maximus. Why has father forbidden us from going out? I saw no wicked men out there
yesterday. During the day robbers would do no harm. Robbers fear my father, he is a Roman
senator. There isn’t any danger. Soon, as it looked to Marcus, the boys were going to the
Circus. Marcus caught sight of the massive size of Circus Maximus. “Look!” Shouts Marcus, “It’s
the Circus. When we enter, at last we watch chariots themselves.” Suddenly, three men threw
themselves on the road. “Watch out for the men!” Sextus shouts. “Those men will drag us into
other houses, and kill us there. Frustrated, Marcus was moved by fear after he heard Sextus
shouting, and fell to the ground, lying motionless in the road. “Hey!” Shouts one of the robbers,
“Where are you going, small? What’s your name? Are you the son of a senate? Are you Marcus
Cornelius?” Marcus says “What do you evil men want? I have no money. Do no harm to me. If
you harm me, father will punish you.” The robber interrupts “Boy be quiet! You are our hostage
and will not return to father. No one will save you. For I will kill you.” Then, the robber pulls out
his sword. Sextus was standing petrified and yelled “Bring help! Bring help!” But no one heard.
No one helped. Marcus shut his eyes, waits for death. Nothing happened. He opens his eyes.
He was in bed. It was only a dream. Today, Marcus decides to stay at home. He doesn’t want to
leave.
