The Church:

NO CHURCH CAN BE SCRIPTURAL UNLESS IT WAS FOUNDED BY THE SCRIPTURAL BUILDER:

Origin matters, even when it comes to the church. Why? The world has many “churches” with various
origins. Many of them claim to be a “New Testament Church”. Some churches started in England,
Germany, some began in the six century A.D. Let me ask you a question. Does the origin of the church
matter? For instance, where and when it was established, who established it? Yes, it does. It is
important to know whether you are part of a church that was founded by an unscriptural builder, which
means that that church must be unscriptural: the work of man not Jesus Christ.

CHRIST FOUNDED THE SCRIPTUAL CHURCH -THE CURCH THAT IS PRESENTED IN THE BIBLE

Mathew 16 vs 18:

In proof of the above statement let us look at what Jesus told Peter in Mathew 16 vs 18. Did he say I will
build the building and you can establish the church? (Read the passage). Therefore, it is certain that no
church can be the scriptural church unless it was founded by Christ. If the church was founded by any
human being, the church then is unquestionably human. We also see in Mathew 16 that Jesus, in
keeping with his promise to build his Church, gave Peter the keys or the authority to state the terms of
admission into it: “I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever you shalt
bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatsoever you salt loose on earth shall be loosed in
heaven……….

……. UPON THE PETER’S CONFESSION THAT JESUS WAS THE CHRIST, THE SON OF THE LIVING GOD,
JESUS SAID HE WILL BUILD HIS CHURCH. IT WAS UPON THAT TRUTH, THAT JESUS WOULD BUILD HIS
CHURCH AND THE GATES OF HELL SHALL OT PREVAIL AGIANST IT. THE CHURCH WAS FOUNDED ON THE
SCRIPTURAL FOUNDATEION.

We know that no building or institution can be stronger than the foundation on which it rest.
Remember the song “The foolish man built his house upon the sand, etc.…” The strength of your house
is not in the house itself but in the foundation. The scriptural church must have a scriptural foundation,
otherwise it is not scriptural. Let look again at Mathew 16, Peter confess Christ and it is upon the truth
of the confession that Jesus is the son of the living God that the foundation of the Church is laid. Hence
the Lord’s Church was not founded upon the weakness of human flesh, but upon the divinity and
sonship of Christ. Let us look at some other verses that collaborate this:

1 Corithians 3 vs 11
Epesians 2 vs 20
Psams 118 vs 22
Mathew 21 vs 42
Acts 4 vs 11
THE FOUNDATION WILL STAND, THEREFORE THE CHURCH WILL STAND

The excellent foundation that Christ is the Son of God has stood and will continue to stand. …. And the
gates of hell will not prevail against it. The infidels, atheists, modernists and skeptics have raved and
ranted, but Christ remains the Son of the living God. This rock may truly be compared to an anvil that
has worn out many hammers. This foundation stands as securely and firmly today as ever.

Voltaire, the French historian writer, who spoke out against Christianity once boastfully declared that
there would not be a copy of the Bible on earth in a hundred years. It has been more than a hundred
years since he said this.

THE CHURCH BEGAN AT JERUSALEM:

If a persons was a member of a church that began or originated in Jamaica, or London or New York, he is
not a member of the Church that Jesus built. Various denominations can trace their origins to cities all
over the world.

Let us look at Isaiah 2 vs 2-3. We learn from these words that God’s house was to be established in
Jerusalem and that God’s house was to be exalted and all nations would flow to it and to elaborate
further on the house of God let us look at 1 Timothy 3 vs 15 (Read) ACTS 2 16-17, 47 (READ) So the
house of God is the Church and from this passage we learn when and where it was to be established.:
We find the same in Micah 4 vs 1-2: Zechariah also prophesied that the Lord’s Church was to founded
in Jerusalem Zech 1 vs 16
