The Passion and Process behind the Making of Reckon Magazine
Putting together a magazine is a great way to share your vision in print. To make a
magazine, you simply need to create meaningful content around a solid theme capable of
attracting a specific market, then organize that content into an appealing layout and
publish it digitally or via print. You can make a handmade magazine, or use computer
software to design and print a professional-quality magazine yourself. The magazine that
will be designed and developed of the group is all disseminating information and
promoting the ABM strand.
Getting Started

Create theme or focus.

The group collaborated and assembles brainstorming to talk about the focus of the
magazine. They generate the primary topic of the magazine which is promoting the ABM
strand. Out of the overarching theme they come up with a one-word title name "Reckon"
with supporting tagline of "Making ABM as Your Finest Asset". Reckon is a word related to
numbers and account that obviously sum up the theme which is all about ABM.
Creating the content
 Outline
The group decides on how to assemble the entire content of the magazine.
They gather information through books or printed materials and through surfing the
net.
The outline of the content is presented as follows:
 Deepen Your Understanding about ABM
 Unleash Your ABM Skills
 I am ABMnista!
 Subjects Exploration
 Choose Your Career Path
 Act-Count-Think Trivia
 Keep Calm and Choose ABM
 Head start your Wildest Dream with ABM
 ABMaterials
 6 ABMindful tips
 ABMotivation
 ABMind Games

 Write articles, columns and stories

The group divided the task to each member and then writes related articles for the
content of the magazine.
The divisions of work together with final written outputs are as follows:

I am ABMnista!
By: Ella Mae DR. Herrera
I love thinking critically and analytically. I am seeing numbers as an aesthetic
art. Money is always in my part and I am willing to balance everything with all my heart.
I am more than ready to take the risk because I am ABMnista.
It is such a great pleasure to be part of the ABM community. The journey is like a
roller coaster ride; it will blow your mind but will surely give you the best experience
of life. They say that ABM is just for intelligent person because it is more difficult
than the usual. It is somehow true because ABM strand is quite complicated and
challenging. As an ABMnista I often experience having sleepless nights due to overloaded
school works. Balancing the accounts, making business plan and financial plan really
stresses my mind as I go through it. But despite of this I enjoy everything about ABM
because it is interesting to learn about. It teaches me the lessons of being a successful
accountant and business woman. It molded me to be ready enough to enter the corporate
world and being an ABMnista reminded me not to give up until you finish the process and
get the best and balanced outcome.
In my life of being an ABM student I can say that it is hard but memorable.
Struggles and stress may always arise but as long you know how to value time and love
what you're doing, everything will be easy and fine. No matter how hard something is I am
always ready to maintain my assets to fight and gain hope to continue and take the risk
of being an ABMnista.

to avoid the customer from reversing or unclosing the deal.
Thus Marketing can be categorized as a branch of business as well as a social science.

Head start your Wildest Dream with ABM

By: John Ernest Hipolito
“Dreams are today’s answers to tomorrow’s questions.” All of us has our own dreams
in life, dreams that is gradually shaping when time goes by. A dream doesn’t become
reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work. Before you achieve
anything there’s a lot of hindrances, circumstances and challenges you have to face,
those are the things that test your stability and courage.
When we are child most of us always saying, I want to be a policeman someday, I want
to become a doctor, I want to become a teacher. Our childhood already give us an idea on
what we want to be in the future. Our surroundings also give a big impact on choosing our
career. There are a lot of stages we need to pass by before we reach the top, our dreams.
Being a senior high school student is one of them. At this stage we already preparing
ourselves to enter the true world and understand the true meaning of life. In senior high
school there’s a variety of strand that you can take base on the career you desire.
Accountancy, Business and Management (ABM), the foundation of future accountants,
businessman/woman, entrepreneur and other business related job. As an ABM student I can
say that this strand is hard, it is more on analyzing and deep understanding. A student
needs to be a good critical thinker to understand every terminology and to catch up in
every lesson. ABM is not a kind of strand that you can take easily; a lot of efforts are
needed to accomplish every task. On the other side it is very challenging, exciting and
worth it. All the experience causes a lot of benefits to a student, different kind of
skills may improve. In social, mental and psychological aspects. This track is perfect
for students who are good in organizing and planning. It enhances learning and knowledge
that can be a big help in college. All of us has different goal in life, like being a
Certified Public Accountant or a Business Manager someday , you must know your priority
,don’t waste your time in useless things. Be productive and mature enough to all your
decisions.
Studying is a long journey of learning and experience, a lot of hardships might
happen to you. Expectation from your family and friends may contribute to your
performance. If you’re really passionate to achieve your dreams, everything will be easy
for you. All the failures will become an inspiration, and all that inspiration can be an
instrument to your success. When you have a dream that you can’t let go of, trust your
instinct and pursue it. But remember: Real dreams take work, they take patience, and
sometimes they require you to dig down very deep, be sure you’re willing to do that. Just
follow your dreams; they know the way of your future.

 ABM student’s real friend is the FRIXION PEN! Honestly based on my experiences you
don’t really need to be good in math. This strand only requires basic math and you
can compute those numbers manually. Frixion pen is important because you will need
it whenever you write in journals, worksheets etc. THERE IS NO ROOM FOR MISTAKE! I
repeat NO ROOM FOR MISTAKE in writing numbers. Every digit are very important, in a
simple mistake you can get ZERO score. Remember how sensitive numbers are.
 Calculator, even if requires basic math, your professor will surely not allowed you
to take exam without a calculator. Yes it is basic math but you will have a hard
time calculating millions though.
 General journal book is a book to record the debits and credits of the transactions
it is vital for the accounting subject.
 Journals and Worksheets, these two papers is what you will usually use in your daily
activities, seat works and exams.

6 ABMindful Tips
By: Jhanina Nuesca
Many might think that Accountancy, Business, and Management (ABM) students get it
easier but boy, were they wrong. ABM students might not have pre-calculus and all the
other heavy Math and Sciences, but they have specialized subjects that gives them equal
stress. So, here are some tips and guides for all those struggling to survive ABM, and
also for the ones that would want to pursue it.
1. Stay Motivated!
Keep the positivity within you; it helps a lot! Do not lose hope because that will
just put you over the cusp of failure and misery. Staying motivated means having the will
to do things; think about your goal or reason why you chose ABM. Block all the negativity
and have faith!
Motivation is the key ingredient towards success; not intelligence or wealth,
because what will a person with intelligence have when he cannot even motivate himself to
make use of his knowledge? Also, a well-off person who is indolent will eventually lose
all of his wealth.
2. Be organized!
ABM classes require plenty of applied lessons hence, there will be many performance
tasks given. So, it is advisable to get your organizing skills to their fullest! Planners
and sticky notes will serve as your best friends. Take note of all the stuff you have to
do, and do it before hand to avoid cramming.
3. Manage time!
You do not want to be one of those zombie-looking students walking in the hallways,
do you? To avoid that, learn how to manage your time appropriately. Make a list of things
that must be done then, number it according to their deadlines and importance.

Do not sacrifice your health over your studies. Yes, education is important but
health is wealth. Thus, leave an ample time to eat your breakfast and have at least 8
hours of sleep.
4. Have time for yourself; have fun!
It is good to know your priorities, but do not take away the youth within you. You
are young, have fun! Make some friends and socialize. Do not drown yourself on school
work, because the most important part of being in high school is the memories and
experiences. Do not steal that from yourself.
School is not all about getting knowledge and earning high grades, in order to get a
high paying job in the future. It teaches you how to live; how to make friends, how to
approach different scenarios in the future, and how to love the world and appreciate
yourself.
5. Get a study habit; befriend those numbers!
This is yet the most obvious one; get a study habit! Do not study only when you have
a test tomorrow, because that will only cause you to cram and the results will most
likely be terrible.
ABM requires a lot of precision, memorization, and analysis –which is why you really
have to constantly read your notes and practice solving. It will be a big help to
befriend your calculator; get to know the keys and its functions. Subsequently, make an
outline of your lessons, write it down; writing will help you remember. Also, drink lots
of water when studying to keep your body hydrated. But remember these are just some study
techniques; all students are different, some learn differently so these might not work.
Just look for a technique that works on you.
6. Secure a best friend!
What is high school without a best friend? I mean, who will listen to the whines you
have about this annoying course work, or the latest gossip about this cute guy in class?
Your best friend will help you get through the day. Your best friend will help things
seem easier, and the world a lot happier.
High school is the foundation of good friendships. This is where you get to know
some of the most important people of your life. So, treasure and do not waste the
opportunity of finding your partner-in-crime!

Positivity is always the key. Thinking that it was perhaps a wrong choice will
definitely not help and can even worsen the case. Love your choices and make the most out
of it. Do not regret about being in the ABM strand, instead embrace the possibilities and
enjoy the uncertainties. Do not live your life in regret, it will only bring you down and
lead you to failure. Love the life you live, so you can live the life you love!
