7. OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS

7.1 Storage and Transportation

Goods will be stored in a proper place to protect against damage and deformation.
Loaders and excavators will be used for loading, unloading and carrying of pipes at
landfill site.
Platforms will be used for transportation if the length of the pipes were same as the
length of the platforms.
The pipes will be handled in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations.
Slings will be used and all hooks and dogs and other metal devices will be padded.
 Pipes will not be exposed to direct sunshine.
 Pipes and fittings will be stored raised from the ground and will be carefully
supported cushioned and welged.
 Also couplings and joints and other similar items will be stored in dry conditions
raised from the ground in sheds or covered areas.
 Storage areas will be carefully set out to facilitate loading, unloading and stored
separated with identifications marks clearly visible.
 Under no circumstances will pipes be dropped, be allowed to strike on another, be
rolled freely or dragged along the ground.

7.2 Methodology:

. Pipes will be laid in accordance with:

 Graviation pipes (EN 1610)
 Pressure pipes (pr EN 805)

The HDPE pipes will be transported from stockpile to the placement point. The pipes
will be lifted by a machine and will be installed to the butt fusion welding machine.
The part standing on the slope, will be welded with butt fusion welding.

The end of the perforated pipe will be close with 10 mm thickness HDPE plate. The
plate will be welded to the pipe by the extrusion weld.

The intersection of the slope and bottom part will be prepared by the experienced
personnel at the site. The slope will be controlled and the excess part will be cut and
the shape of the pipe will be produce according to related drawing. After the length of
the pieces will be suitable, the intersection part will be welded by extrusion joint.

The electro fusion Welding operation will be performed according to the international
standards as DVS 2207.
The Welding according to the electro fusion welding method performed by the
heating coil on the sleeve part.
The points to take into consideration to jointed the PE pipes by Butt welding.
 Before started the welding operation, the surfaces will be scalped and will be
brushed carefully & examined for soundness
 The Contractor will forward certificates showing that the materials have been
tested and comply with the requirements of this specifications and the relevant
standard.

METHOD STATEMENT
Rehabilitation of Balakhani Landfill M.S. No.: 05

The temperature of the environment Butt-welding will not lower than 5 °C.
The thickness of pipes to be joint will be equal. If there will be difference it will not
be greater than 10 %.
 The butt-welding machine that will be used will be certificated.
 Before started the welding operation, the surfaces will be scalped for degreasing
the oxidation and the welding surfaces will be contacted completely each other.
 As well as the temperature of welding machine will be 200-220 °C, it will be
determined according to the produced row material and the application standard.
It will be chosen high temperatures for the low pipe thickness, low temperatures
for the high pipe thickness.
 After started the welding operation, while cooling down period of pipes the joint
pressure values will be equal.
 In case of the created air circulation inside of the pipe speeded up unbalanced the
cooling down period, the end of pipe will be shut down.
Before started to welding operation the temperature of the machine will be checked and after
reached to the required temperature will be started 5 min later.

8. INSPECTIONS

After completion of welding, it will be inspected by the Engineer and remarks will be
checked in accordance with the requirements stipulated in the COC.

9. HEALTH & SAFETY

Safety precautions will be taken during loading and unloading. Under no

circumstances will pipes be dropped, be allowed to strike on another, be rolled freely,
or dragged along the ground.
Precautions have to be taken during the execution of work according to the HSSE
manual.
All Personnel to wear Personal protective clothing, steel toecap boots, helmets and if
necessary ear defenders.
A trained operator will manage all works.
