Abstract

Gamao, Jayson S
Level of Literacy and Utilization of Information Communications
Technology of Bukidnon National High School English Teachers in
Language Teaching. Unpublished thesis. Bukidnon State University,
Malaybalay City, March 2018.

Based on the new technology initiative in Philippine Education,

this study explored the level of literacy of Bukidnon National High School
English teachers in integrating ICT in teaching English as a second
Language. The study aims to assess the English language teachers’ ICT
literacy, the extent of ICT utilization in English language teaching. This
study used two adopted questionnaires, one is for Computer Literacy
Self-Assessment and another one is for teachers’ utilization of ICT in
teaching English. These two questionnaires were distributed to 21
English language teachers in Bukidnon National High School. It was
analyzed using descriptive statistics. It was reflected in the result that
ICT literacy of language teachers was large extent of competency and
literateness of using such skills and often utilized ICT in language
teaching. Based on the findings and conclusions drawn, it is
recommended that the teachers should have an ICT-based or Computer-
based training specifically on ICT skills needed by the language teachers
and continually upgrade the use of information communications
technology in the classroom. Lastly, the school administrators may
incorporate a larger school-wide ICT development plan in the
implementation of the language teaching and learning activities.
