Dear brothers, sister, ladies and gentlemen!

AssalamuAlaikumWarohmatullahiWabarokatuh……………

First of all, let’s say thank to Allah which has given guidance and blessing to us so we can
gather here in this beautiful place.

Secondly, may sholawat and salam be with our prophet Muhammad piece upon him, who has
guided us from the darkness to the enlightment in the world as well as in the next world.

Thirdly, I’ll never forget to thank to the judge who has given me an opportunity to deliver a
speech.

I am standing in front of you to present my speech about “The Importance of Life Skill”

Do you know what is the meaning of life? What are we looking for in this world? In my
opinion, life is struggled to learn.
Our great prophet Muhammad peace be upon him said, “ “
It means the acquisition of knowledge is compulsory for every moslem, male and female.
According to the above hadith, we are obligated to seek knowledge. Knowledge is very
important to our life. By knowing a knowledge, we can conquer all creatures in the world,
such as big mountains, giant trees, wild animals and so on.We will know the real purpose and
the essence of life. But without knowledge, we are like the weak people who cannot make
progress and development in the world.

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

As a young generation, we have to compete and show our self potential and creativity.
Basically, every human has a power and potential, but some of us do not realize it. The fact is
every potential helps us to change our life better.These potential includes humans’ life skill.

Life skill is needed nowadays in labor market. It is a competence for determining whether
people are succeeded or not. Life skill worker has been paid higher than non life skill worker.
It shows that life skill is important. Central Bureau of Statisticson 2016 stated that 7.2 million
people are unemployment.The unemployment can be happened because of non life skill
worker. Eventhough, the big company requires life skill worker.

According to European Comission in 2006 stated that there are eight life skills that have to be
mastered by young generation:
First, Communication in mother tongue
Some people are having some difficulties in communicate. They are less confidence and
they can’t express their feeling in a good language. As a result, they are hard to show they
are deserved to get a chance for getting scholarship or work in a great company.

Second, Communication in foreign language

English is an international language. It is a very universal language and it is used by
people to communication all around the world. English also allowspeople to develop and
interact as social beings. Regarding to the European Economic Community, young
generation have to be able to communicate with the foreign people or else they will be left
behind with some countries which has exposed with English as their second language.

Third, Mathematical Competence

People are expected to have a mathematical competence for their bright future. We know
to days mathematical is something which is not unusual, for example, doing calculation
and operation.They must try to expose it to master their own life skill

Fourth, Digital Competence

Technology is a part of our life. When we want to capture some things, we can get easily
to catch it by using digital camera or we want to want to call someone instantly, we can
use digital cellphone. Related to this, digital has been taken a place in our daily life.
Therefore, people must be aware to apply it.

Fifth, Learning to learn

Learning is a never ending process. Therefore, a life skill man must have a high curiosity.

Sixth, Social and Civic Competence

People must have social and civic competence, for example they must be able to improve
teamwork, enhance leadership, more open to people from diverse, and improve pro social
behavior.

Seventh, Sense of initiative and entrepreneurship

Life skill needs Sense of initiative and entrepreneurship. The people are required to be an
entrepreneur not an officer.

And the last is Cultural awareness. People must have ‘cultural awareness’, so they will not
have ‘Cultural Shock’ if they meet the people who has a different culture.

Based on those eight life skills, people must have life skill in order they can achieve their
life succeeded.
