ADMISSION OF THE SENIOR CITIZENS FOR BOTH SINGLE AND COUPLE

The aged persons are admitted in our ashram .It is the only organizations in the
State which provides a home for orphan children and the old age people in one
roof. It is an ideal environment for the senior citizens to spend their latter part of
life in a calm atmosphere in the ashram. The organization provides a shelter and
food with minimum medical facilities in the orphanage. We admit old person’s men
and couple and women who need not depend on their children, to take care
of them and stay in a permanent roof. Dormitories are provided in our old age
home with good infrastructure, like bed beddings, fan table chair, water facilities,
and other minimum facilities.

FOOD FACILITIES OFFERED IN THE ASHRAM

Food is served in the dining hall with morning tea, breakfast which includes idly
dosa, etc around 8.30.

Lunch is served at 12.30 with usual karri, sambar, rasam and butter milk. Evening
snacks are being served to the elders

In the night Dinner is being served to the elders to around 8.00 with rice etc or
Tiffin like dosa, pongal etc. for sick and the diabetic persons food is served
according to their requirements. Special care is taken to cook quality food with
fewer ingredients and less salt and sugar to keep the elders in good health
condition.

On festival days and on the day of feast which is provided by the donors,
the elders are provided special meals with vadai, payasam,,appalam and other
special quality food with fruits plantain and sweet.

CONDITIONS FOR AND DETAILS FOR ADMISSION.

1.Elders above the age group of 50+ are normally admitted

2.Elders with good health are admitted i.e. they should manage for
themselves for washing cleaning and other basic requirements.
{We are presently having 80 senior citizens; the ashram takes care of the elders
who chronically sick once they are admitted in the ashram. We have doctors who
attend to the elders and prescribe after check-up medicines and drugs .Hence we
prefer to have elders with normal health, while admitting.

Once they fall sick after the admissions then the ashram takes care of
their health till their last breath.}
3. If required hospitalization is also provided to the elders for check-up
and that it the health conditions warrants they are even admitted in the

4. Aged persons of both sexes are admitted

5. Couples are provided with separate apartments with all facilities along with a
kitchen in the couple cottage
.
6. Relations are allowed to see the elders any time and that they are not allowed
to stay in their room under any circumstances without written permission from the
management.

7. They should actively participate in the ashram activities like prayer and the
functions
.
8. They should come forward to assist the ashram in rendering services to the like
conducting studies, teaching them worldly experiences ,teach dance drill, drama
or any other co-curricular and extracurricular activities in which they have been
working, and trained. Senior citizens who have experience in office administration
should render service in the administration, by giving a helping hand. Any type of
services is accepted.

9. No smoking or taking intoxicating items are allowed in the ashram.

10. No non-veg foods are allowed to consume in the ashram

.
11. If the ashram inmates want to leave the ashram, one month notice should be
given and will be allowed to leave the ashram.

THE DEPOSIT AMOUNT WILL BE REFUNDED ONLY IF THE ELDERS STAY IN

THE OLD AGE FOR A PERIOD OF 1 COMPLETE YEAR

FACILITIES AROUND ASHRAM.

1. A Post office is available in the village

2. Banking facilities are available in the area INDIAN BANK has its Extention
counter in our ashram campus.
3. Medical store is available Swami Sivananda Medical Center and Doctors will
be there for 1 hour to attend the patients by 11 O’ clock.
4. Shops are available in the village KATTANKOLLATHUR to buy essential items.

OLD AGE HOME SINGLE

refundable when the inmates leave the ashram.}

The ashram admits senior citizens free of cost for those who neither has pension,
nor savings, nor anyone to support. The application will be received and
scrutinized and according to the merits admission will be given.

THE ORGANIZATION RESERVES ITS RIGHT TO ADMIT OR REJECT ANY

APPLICATION.
The advantage of this old age home will be that the seniors in the old
age home will have 300 tiny tots who are in home to provide the love and
affection as their grand children and it will be a treat to watch the services they
do when an aged persons needs change or relaxation.

I have gone through the mail and I understand that an elderly person is
to be admitted in our senior citizens home. Thanks for your nice thoughts
and also want the elderly to be in our ashram. It is fine. The person
whom you want to admit have to visit our ashram and see the facilities
offered in the home and the quality of the food and the timings and other
areas where he/ she may have some doubts may be enquired by
him/her personally with the elders in the ashram will give them an idea as
to what she/he wants . This will help them as well us so that once if the
admitted then after few days they may change the mind and then if they
want to leave the home this will lead to lot of admistrative problems as
well as all the strain taken by the persons who want to help them also go
a waste and we in our ashram do have more then 60 elders as well as
300 children in our home cannot do only admistrative work. Therefore,
the person who wants admission will have to go personally see the
ashram and find out all the details the he or she may want and finally
come to our office at Tambaram and then pay the amount and an
agreement and then get themselves admitted.
You can meet our P.R.O Mr. Sridaran at the ashram who will certainly
help you in this regard. I am forwarding you few mails and as well as few
attachments which you may read them for details of our service as well if
you can support as and when you get an opportunity. You may contact
Mr. Sridaran at our ashram and then go and see the old age home. For
his phone numbers you may refer our contacts mail which is being sent
to you separately.
The person who is admitted should manage her/his needs by
himself or herself as we do not have man power to take give staff to
attend to the needs and also healthy not with chronic diseases as
we do not have sufficient man power. More over in the case of
elders who are normally aged do have health problems and we find
very difficult to take care of the persons numbering 80 already in
our old age home and as such it will not be possible to get a person
who is immobile with lots of health problems this is very important
point to be taken care when you come with the person for
admission.
I really value your concern for the poor and the have knots which is the
key to-day for human beings in as much most of them do spend their
time money and energy in only accumulating money and more comforts
to take care of themselves and lead a materialistic life and in the fag end
of their life they feel that the very purpose of having given birth to this
world have been a waste and they feel very much that they have not lead
a life with some meaning and useful way to the society and community .
You are different and want to lead life to serve the needy and I feel that
you have a vision and a mission to carry on whatever possible in best of
your capacity. Congratulations of being a human and that too a perfect

RULES & REGULATIONS TO JOIN IN OUR OLD AGE HOME FOR

COUPLE
1. No Registration Fee.
2. Rs.6000/- (for Couple) is to be paid monthly towards food, shelter and
maintenance.
3. The old couple who has no heir or relatives should give in writing who
should do the last rites, then they for that purpose only must deposit a sum of
Rs. 10000/- as Ashram Trust. The deposit will be spent only for that purpose and
is refundable.
4. A one way donation of Rs.7500/- is to be received from the old age couple
while joining, as per the resolution of the management to maintain buildings
and other infrastructures.

5. Weekly twice, the ashramites will have free medical check-up. And for
small ailments
medicines will be given free of cost. For serious illness or if they need
more medical
treatment they should take treatment only on their own expenses only.

6.Those old couple, who could not afford to pay any money are also
admitted with a condition, that they should serve the destitute children or
the senior citizens or help in the administration of the ashram.

7. Vegetarian Food only will be given to the ashramites at the following

time:

Non-Veg food buying from outside is strictly Prohibited.

Morning 7.00 - Coffee

Morning 8.00 - Breakfast
Noon 12.00 _ Lunch

Evening 4.00 _ Tea or Coffee

Night 7.30 _ Tiffin or Meals
8. The ashramites only with proper permission from the management can
go out of the ashram. For those temporary absence days mess fees will
not be reduced. Moreover, if they leave the ashram for a month, even
then they have to pay the mess fees regularly without fail.

9. Non-Vegetarian foods are totally banned from the ashram. The ashram
runs in a serene atmosphere only with service motive not with business
motive. So it is the bounden duty of every ashramite to maintain the
serenity.

10.No political or cinema matter is to be talked or discussed in the

ashram.

11. if the asramites interfere, and meddle with the administration or if they
fail to pay the monthly subscription regularly, without any notice the
management has every right to send them out.

12.If they want to leave the ashram permanently, one month notice
should be given.

13.Those who join the old age home, with service mind do some work,
voluntarily. For the well being of the ashram, with a service mind, should
perform some work,as expected by the management.

14. The management of the ashram has the right to admit or reject ant
application.

Note: Those wish to join Sivananda Ashram Old Age Home, may first
visit our ashram at Kattankulathur . From the PRO at the ashram can
gather the details. Then register their name with the correspondent/the
secretary at the administrative office No.20, Kambar St, East Tambaram.
According to seniority admission will be given.

Sivananda Sevashram is located on Tambaram – Chengalpet Highway(GST Road) –

next to S.R.M. Engineering College – 15 Kms from Tambaram T60(ordinary) buses
will stop at Sivananda Sevashram – Gurukulam Stop.
 Donations will not be refunded for any reason.
