Guidance Note For Students

Regarding Registration of Electives, 3rd Semester – 2018

A. Student’s choice of a PE (Professional Elective) may be from:

1. Courses offered by the PD (Parent Dept.)
These may be deemed allotted provided pre-requisites (if any) are fulfilled. The only reason the elective
may not be allotted may be if the Department decides not to offer the course for any reason including
not receiving the minimum number of applications.
2. Courses available online and listed as Approved / Recommended by the Dept
These may be deemed allotted but the responsibility of online registration, completion of the course and
submission of certificates to earn the credits are entirely the student’s.
3. Courses offered by ODs (Other Depts.) and approved by the PD as permitted PEs.
The decision to offer or be admitted / registered for the offered course is entirely at the discretion of the
Department offering the courses.

B. Student’s choice of an OE (Open Elective) may be from:

1. Any of the listed courses on offer in the University *
- provided the timetables facilitate and the PD ‘admits / registers’ the student for the course.
2. Any of the online courses available
3. Any course in any other institution recognized by the UGC/ AICTE/ State Govt./ MHRD, etc.

* Note : In the case of core courses offered by ODs as ‘Open” courses, their timetable slots will be put up only after
applications have been received. It is possible that the timetable slots may be outside the regular class hours and may also
be on Saturdays.
