PROPOSAL FOR MINING TRUCK TERMINALS IN GOA

INTRODUCTION
Goa accounts for more than 50 percent of the iron ore
export from India. The economy of the state is largely
based on mining and tourism. Mining especially in
Goa has created numerous employment opportunities.
Many families in Bicholim and Sanquelim and other
surrounding area are directly or indirectly depended
on the mining industry for their living. Private truck
operators (locals), spare part shops, washing centers
are few business enterprises directly dependent on
the mining industry providing employment to many.

Ideally around 5 to 8 acres of land will be re-
quired for the construction of a well planned
mining truck terminus having all the infrastruc-
ture and parking facilities for at least 100 trucks.

TRUCK TERMINUS.
Apart from parking, facilities and basic amenities for the
truckers the terminus can include various other revenue
and employment generating activites which will bene-
fit the truckers, local people as well as the government.

The basic infrastructure requirements are listed


below:

Rest rooms.
Toilet facilities.
Canteen.
Healthcare facilities.
Entertainment Facilities.
Work shops.
Spare parts shop.
Truck washing center.
Parking for 100 Trucks.
Security out post and surveillance systems.
