Science Course Description STEM/PreAP/GT
First Six Weeks Unit Students will apply concepts through at least 2
Science Safety, Scientific Methods hands-on design projects per semester using the
Metric Measurements engineering design process and problem solving
Flow of Energy, Photosynthesis techniques. Students will be expected to do
Second Six Weeks Unit research and create products as part of their
Food Chains, Webs, Energy Pyramids homework.
Ecosystems, Catastrophic Events
Ecological Succession Science Fair
Third Six Weeks Unit Every student is required to complete a Science
Weathering, Erosion, Deposition Fair Project. Students will receive a timeline with a
Groundwater and Surface Water series of due dates leading up to the final product
Cell Theory, Plant & Animal Cells completion that will count for daily work grades.
Fourth Six Weeks Unit Completed projects are graded and recorded as a
Cell Functions, Dichotomous Keys test grade.
