4. GENERAL DIAGRAM OF THE REFRIGERATING CIRCUIT

Heat pumps use electricity to capture heat and move it from outside air to pool water. They don't
generate heat.

As the pool pump circulates the swimming pool water, the water drawn from the pool passes through
a filter and the heat pump. The heat pump has a fan that draws in the outside air and directs it over
the evaporator coil. Liquid refrigerant within the evaporator coil absorbs the heat from the outside air
and becomes a gas. The warm gas in the coil then passes through the compressor. The compressor
increases the heat, creating a very hot gas that then passes through the condenser. The condenser
transfers the heat from the hot gas to the cooler pool water circulating through the heat pump. The
heated water then returns to the pool. The hot gas, as it flows through the condenser coil, returns to
liquid form and back to the evaporator, where the whole process begins again.

Higher efficiency heat pump pool heaters usually use scroll compressors versus the reciprocal
compressors of standard units. Heat pump works efficiently as long as the outside temperature
remains above the 7-20℃ range. The higher of the temperature of outside air they draw in, the more
energy they use.

6. CONTROL SYSTEM AND PROTECTION
The heat pump is fitted out with 2 control systems:
- A temperature sensor of the evaporator, it is being used to control defrosting operation..
- A temperature sensor placed on the exchanger, when the temperature of the water reaches the
required temperature, the heat pump will be stopped. The normal cycle will restart when the
temperature in the exchanger drop down to 2°C lower than presetting temperature.
Main protection:
- Protection of lacking water for condenser.
- High and low pressure protection of refrigerant.
- Temperature protection of compressor discharge.
- Integrated to the card, a magnetic ammeter/circuit breaker on the compressor.
If an error occurs on one of these systems (defective system, off-line or abnormal measured value), a
message of error will appear on the display screen; see the paragraph “Error codes and what to do”
of this note.

8. INSTALLATION
8.1 Rules of installation
 Electric and plumber job must be carried out according to local standards.
 The machine must be installed outside.

8.2 Foundation
 Mount the unit on a level, sturdy base, preferably a concrete slab or blocks. The size of the base
should be at least: 1200mm x 900mm
 The unit’s supporting base must be high enough to keep it completely free of standing water at all
times.

8.3 Location

Vertical Unit:

10. MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTION

10.1 Water Flow and refrigerating circuit pressure
CAUTION: The below operation must be performed by qualified person.
For optimal operation of the heat pump, set the pressure of the refrigerant circuit

Stage 1:
Access to the seal of the filling gas valve
in removing the rubber cover ; before starting the heat pump,
connect the manometer, the needle must shows before
starting and to an ambient temperature around 20℃,
a pressure from 14 to 16kg/cm².

Stage 2:
Close completely the bypass valve and open largely inlet and outlet valves of the heat pump; in these
conditions the totality of the water flow goes by the heat pump.
Put into service the Heat Pump in heating mode, wait for the indicated pressure being stabilized; the
correct setting of the pressure is from 28 to 30 kg/cm²;
In most of cases (pump of filtration given a flow until 20m3/h) you do not have to open the bypass
valve.
If the stabilized pressure is under 28kg/cm², the progressive opening of the bypass valve will allow
rising this pressure.
The adjustment of the bypass valve done, you have in principle no reason to modify it during the
season. See the paragraph “Environment problem” too.

10.2 Defrosting
The defrosting is necessary only in heating mode. Steps for defrosting:
1) To start: Defrosting starts if the following conditions are fulfilled at the same time:
a. The compressor and the fan motor run without stopping;
b. The defrosting sensor temperature lower than 3℃, and the duration of time more than 45 minutes;
c. The defrosting sensor temperature goes down to -7°C (factory setting).
2) The compressor and the fan stop;
3) After 10 seconds, the 4 way valve shifts
4) Five seconds after its stop, the compressor starts alone and the accumulated freeze on the gills
becomes melting, what is generally with a steam cloud.
5) Stop: The defrosting stops if one of the following conditions is fulfilled:
a. The defrosting operates 20 seconds and the detected temperature by the defrost sensor goes
up to 10°C (factory setting).
b. The defrosting mode had run totally 8 minutes
20
SWIMMING POOL HEAT PUMP (PLASTIC SHELL) Directions for installation and maintenance
6) The compressor stops
7) After 10 seconds the 4 way valve shifts
8) Five seconds after its stop the compressor and the fan start for restarting in heating mode.

10.3 Environment problem

Under certain external conditions the heat exchanges between refrigerant and water on one hand,
between fluid and air on the other hand are insufficient; the consequence is that the
refrigerating circuit runs up in pressure and the compressor consumes more electricity.

The temperature sensors of compressor outlet, the magnetic circuit breaker on the compressor
power supply, are both protect compressor from damages caused by extreme weather conditions;
when compressor stop, the error messages E 05 or E 06 will display on the control panel.

Reason of faults and fixed solution

 Insufficient water flow: Close the by-pass valve for increasing the heat exchange.
 Insufficient air flow: Be sure that the grilles of the radiator are not blocked.

Note: these error codes are likely to occur if temperature of swimming pool water is high and
the ambient air is hot.

10.4 Washing sand filter

In winter drain off water completely to prevent equipment from bursting from low temperature.
Entirely unscrew the 2 connections on the heat pump and have each pipe slip to make leave the
openings coming out from the heat pump; the Heat pump gets empty, wait for the complete emptying.
Ensure the water has drained completely from the equipment. Put back each pipe to its place and
screw again the connections to entirely close again (to avoid little animal’s entry)
Notice: About filter maintenance, enquire with your installer or call your pool service provider.

10.5 Heat pump cleaning

 Make sure that nothing blocks the gilds radiator. If it’s necessary to clean it, please contact the
dealer or our service team.
 Also, make sure that the gilds are right, rectilinear; if it’s necessary rectify them with a fine comb;
 Make sure that the drain pipe of the condensed water is not blocked.
