Human race have
been struggling for existence since the very ancient ages. Human beings since the age old historical periods
have been trying to make the Earth a better place to live in, day by day. For this they have been trying to
develop this planet in many aspects to enrich their increasing goals and ambitions which have been eventually
leading them to develop the planet for many functional reasons which in turn affecting the nature and the
planet in long term way. I believe there is no point in an ambition or intention of creating something if, in turn
it destroys the nature itself for which it had got its origin. I, myself feel the human race is enough responsible
to harm the planet daily by its many activities.
During the Stone Age periods, human beings used to make use of different natural elements to make
different armours and weapons, cause fire to protect itself from the other species residing in the planet. That
was indeed a way to save himself from the other races. But since then, we, the human have been extracting or
making use of the nature to help ourselves. That was struggle for the existence. That time, the nature, our
planet helped us to thrive in. So human being should also be grateful to its planet and its nature and hence
should serve it as well.
As human being could be able to move a little forward along the historical periods, they felt the desire to
meet their basic needs of food, wardrobe and shelter. Little along the line, human being felt the necessity of
living the life in a better way. They started feeling the need of better‐living which directly led them to use the
nature in a poor ways gradually. Technology was the direct outcome to help human being meet their desire of
living a better life. Technology was undoubtedly successful to meet the desires. But technology took a greater
responsibility of harming the nature of our planet to a considerable extent. Human being apparently is seen to
have progressed and developed further with the aid of technology which is seen to having been imparting
adverse impact on the environment and nature due to several reasons.
Let us take the example of using motor bi‐cycles instead of bi‐cycles. The motor‐cycles has undoubtedly
helped the people to move fast and help human beings in their slower locomotion problems. But the amount
of pollution, affected by the use of motor seems to be neglected by the human mass. Human race accepted
the technology in a broader and popular way but never has shown to be concerned about the loss of the
nature and environment caused due to the technologies.
Let us take another example of using air‐conditioners and refrigerators. It helps to emit CFC gas which is seen
to cause the ozone layer depletion resulting the invitation of harmful UV rays of Sun affecting the flora and
fauna and various species of the planet. So here again it is seen that the technology is proving itself to be a
'necessary evil'.
But I feel 'necessary' is not primary these times. Rather these are the secondary requirements of human
being which invites the improvement of technology causing 'evil' impacts on the earth and its environments by
its undesirable effects. In the very first paragraph, I have mentioned that human being should be ultimately
indebted to the planet and its nature which helped the race to thrive in during its initial times with its available
resources.
Summing up all, I feel human race should have an optimisation study on the 'net effect' of the developing
technologies. They are developing technologies to live in a better world which is ultimately, I feel, is harming
their own environment without which, the race would not be able to exist even. So I support the first
statement that human and its activities are affecting the earth in an indirect manner which should be
optimised sometimes based on the adverse effects of many technologies which are apparently having some
progressive effects.
