Safety 1
NOTICE Only systems and components which fulfill the general safety
regulations for electrical units used for medical purposes accord-
ing to DIN VDE 0750 / EN 60601 / IEC 601-1 should be installed
and operated in medical facilities.
NOTICE Use utmost caution during transport and delivery to avoid danger
to equipment and personnel.
Only adequately trained personnel may install the permanent
magnet. Always review the safety instructions before performing
any work near or on the magnet.
NOTICE All transport activities, including delivery into the rooms, must
only be performed by a licensed carrier!
Transport routes 1
- Before issuing orders to the carrier, the project manager and the architect/construction
engineer must determine the weight capacity (e.g. 11.500 kg for the permanent
magnet) of the floor along the transport route and in temporary storage areas. The
architect/construction engineer must certify in writing that the route can withstand the
expected load.
It is the responsibility of the carrier to obtain information concerning the various
transport routes prior to the actual transport. Copies of the transport plans and
certification must be provided by the carrier upon receipt of the order.
The order for transport by a licensed carrier must be issued in writing and must contain, in
addition to general information (e.g., a list of parts, etc.), the following data and
documentation:
- Copies of plans for the transport route/temporary storage areas
- Copy of the certification concerning weight capacity of the floor
- Final destination of transport (it is therefore recommended that the carrier company
obtain information concerning the transport route prior to the actual transport)
- Weight of components to be transported
- Dimensions of components to be transported
- Use of transport devices
- Damage in transit
- The shipping agents should be informed immediately of any apparent damage to
either the packing or the product.
- This action should then be followed up by a report to MRL in Erlangen indicating the
nature of the problem. Where possible, photographs of the damaged items should be
included with the damage report.
- Check all items supplied against the enclosed packing list with each system and
notify MRL in Erlangen by FAX of any shortages or damage.
Transport Requirements 1
Prior to unpacking 1
- Inspect the label on the crate, which includes the order and item number, as well as the
packing slip by Siemens AG, Erlangen.
- All packets and crates are packed prior to installation process.
- Check the condition and orientation of the crate.
- Check the crate immediately upon arrival for damage. Also, ensure that the crate was/
is positioned correctly.
Due to the installation sequence all parts are packed in separate crates or boxes.
- Crowbar
- Hammer

- Safety gloves
Fig. 2 Tools
- Position identification.
- The arrows shown point upward toward the top of the crate indicating
that the crate is positioned correctly.
- Protection against rain.
- The crate may only be stored in dry areas. Protect crate against humidity.
- Fragile contents. Handle with care
NOTICE Do not unpack the crate, but notify the project manager
immediately so that the carrier/insurance agency is informed
accordingly.
Subsequently, unpack the crate, if necessary, in the presence of
the carrier.
Ï Safety
- Areas of possible injuries
- Avoid protruding nails
NOTICE Ensure that contents are complete and have not been damaged
during transport.
NOTICE Next to areas which lead to zones where the magnetic flux density
exceeds 0.5 mT.

CAUTION All components of the RF-room and inside the RF-room must be
made from non-magnetizable material. Follow manufacturer’s
specifications and instructions
NOTICE The RF filter plate has to be installed from the outside of the RF
cabin. Clean the contact surfaces of the RF filter plate and the RF
cabin with cleaning alcohol.
NOTICE Screws and material for mounting the filterplate to the Cupper-RF-
cabin are not supplied with the system. They must be supplied
locally.
NOTICE When all components of the RF room have been installed check
the RF attenuation of the RF cabin.
The RF-attenuation in the RF-room must be at least 90dB in the
frequency range of 5...65 MHz. This value must be confirmed by
measurement and recorded in a suitable protocol.
CAUTION Position the filter plate as specified and install the filter plate to
the outside of the RF-room.
Attach the filter plate to the RF-room wall with M10 x 20 screws and nuts.

EXAMINR1
NOTICE When placing the non magnetic steel plates on the floor of the
magnet room, ensure that the edges of the RF room doors will not
be damaged.
Safety 3
NOTICE To ensure maximum safety for the personnel and the system, the
straps or other lifting devices as well as non-magnetic hydraulic
lifts and the non-magnetic rollers must be in good working
condition.
NOTICE Inform the personnel working for the transport company that the
magnet may not be tilted more than 10° degrees when being
brought into the magnet room. The magnet may tip over if tilted
more than 10°.
Tools 3
The following tools are required to carry in the magnet and system components into the
examination and equipment room:
- Forklift
- Non-magnetic transportation tool kit (including four ropes/each four meters in length;
load capacity 4000 kg each; non-magnetic transport devices and rollers for
transporting the permanent magnet)

Permanent magnet 3
Important 3
Conversely, when the weight of the permanent magnet exceeds the static load capacity of
the floor/ceiling, a different transport route must be taken. The Architect or Static engineer
of the hospital/customer must guarantee the load capacity of 11.0 tons. When planning
the transport route of the magnet into the building, the necessary arrangements with the
project manager must be completed.
The system is delivered from the factory. Please note that the components are extremely
sensitive. Do not subject the components to extreme vibrations when unloading.
When the truck arrives, ensure that the delivery is complete by comparing its contents
with the delivery slip.

CAUTION Ensure that the line voltage is switched off at the on-site power
distribution panel (remove fuses, lock switch) before you start
with the cable installation.
Switch all circuit breakers in the ECA cabinet to the "off" (downward) position.
NOTICE Seperate the gradient cables min. 1 m from the other cables.
Combine the RF-cables, the signal and power cables seperately
from each other.
DO NOT COMBINE ALL CABLES TOGETHER!
DO NOT COMBINE THE GRADIENT CABLES WITH THE OTHER
CABLES!
If possible run the gradient cables in different cable ducts.
Route the gradient cables seperate from the other cables, distance min. 1m.
Route all cables seperate from each other (signal cables, gradient cables, Rf-cables) .
Have excess cable close to the filter plate meander across the ceiling and secure it with
cables ties.
WARNING Do not wrap excess cable around the magnet or loop it in circles.
Route the gradient cables seperate from the other cables.
Cable identification 9
The ends of the cable are identified with the item number, type number, and connector
identification as well as a running cable number. Allocate the cables via the cable number
which is identified by a W (wire) in the circuit diagrams.

connection Connect the ground cable to one screw of the left
side board at the magnet. (Refer to figure on the
left.)
If there is a connection point available connect the
ground cable to that point. (Refer to figure above.)
NOTICE For performing the system connections follow the top sheets of
the wiring diagrams for syngo MR Num 4!
A copy of the top sheets is implemented in this document.
NOTICE All the connections to and/or from the Host PC are at the rear of
the Host PC. (Fig. 13)
CAUTION Take extreme care when installing or routing the glass fiber optic
cable W033a! This cable is a real glass fiber optic cable. Do not
bend or bruise this cable!
It is not recommended to use cable ties to fix the fiber optic
cables; tighten the optic cables with tape to the cable harness.
Bending of fiber optic cables at fixing points might leed to high
signal damping and system problems.

Tools required
Torque wrench, adjustable to 3 Nm and 10 Nm, e.g. the torque wrench from the Open
shim device, or torque wrench 3 - 20 Nm part no. 34 24 553.
Connect the gradient cables and tighten the nuts with 10 Nm. Install the mounting
brackets for the gradient cables and install the covers at the gradient filter terminals on
both sides of the filter plate.
NOTICE The entire grounding cabling must be installed, before this test
can be performed.
NOTICE The protective conductor test has also to be performed from the
on-site power distribution panel to the connection (mains box) of
the ECA cabinet. This is to ensure the presence of the ground
connection at the connection terminal of the ECA cabinet.
Ï Use the protective conductor meter and measure the ohmic resistance
between the protective conductor connection on top of the CCA cabinet and an
uncoated metallic part of the:

The waterhoses are running from the GRACCO cabinet through the RF-filter plate to the
permanent magnet.
Four shut off valves must be installed at the GRACCO and the permanent magnet. Two
valves at each component. The valves are part of the delivery.
NOTICE The air release valves must be installed at the highest point of
the water hose route.
Ï When the valves are connected run, the water hoses from the GRACCO cabinet
to the RF-filter plate, and from the RF-filter plate (examination room side) to the
permanent magnet in the sequence described below.
NOTICE Use the 10m water hose set inside the examination room and the
5/15m set outside the examination room.
NOTICE The two air vent valves have to be installed at the highest point of
the water hose route
