Safety 1

CAUTION The magnet is a permanent magnet and always on its magnetic

field strength of 0.2T!
All personnel working in close vicinity of the permanent magnet
during the installation must be informed regarding the safety
guidelines!

NOTICE Adhere to all safety regulations as well as the safety information

in Register "Safety" when performing the installation.

NOTICE Only systems and components which fulfill the general safety
regulations for electrical units used for medical purposes accord-
ing to DIN VDE 0750 / EN 60601 / IEC 601-1 should be installed
and operated in medical facilities.

Issuing orders and transport procedure 1

NOTICE Use utmost caution during transport and delivery to avoid danger
to equipment and personnel.
Only adequately trained personnel may install the permanent
magnet. Always review the safety instructions before performing
any work near or on the magnet.

NOTICE All transport activities, including delivery into the rooms, must
only be performed by a licensed carrier!

NOTICE Transport of the permanent magnet and any other

heavy components by SIEMENS employees is prohibited.

Transport routes 1

- Before issuing orders to the carrier, the project manager and the architect/construction
engineer must determine the weight capacity (e.g. 11.500 kg for the permanent
magnet) of the floor along the transport route and in temporary storage areas. The
architect/construction engineer must certify in writing that the route can withstand the
expected load.
It is the responsibility of the carrier to obtain information concerning the various
transport routes prior to the actual transport. Copies of the transport plans and
certification must be provided by the carrier upon receipt of the order.

Issuing the order 1

The order for transport by a licensed carrier must be issued in writing and must contain, in
addition to general information (e.g., a list of parts, etc.), the following data and
documentation:
- Copies of plans for the transport route/temporary storage areas
- Copy of the certification concerning weight capacity of the floor
- Final destination of transport (it is therefore recommended that the carrier company
obtain information concerning the transport route prior to the actual transport)
- Weight of components to be transported
- Dimensions of components to be transported
- Use of transport devices
- Damage in transit
- The shipping agents should be informed immediately of any apparent damage to
either the packing or the product.
- This action should then be followed up by a report to MRL in Erlangen indicating the
nature of the problem. Where possible, photographs of the damaged items should be
included with the damage report.
- Check all items supplied against the enclosed packing list with each system and
notify MRL in Erlangen by FAX of any shortages or damage.

Protective Conductor Test 9

NOTICE Before performing the protective conductor test, read the

operators manual of your measuring device!
For some measuring devices the resistance of the measuring
leads have to be substracted from the measuring result!

NOTICE The entire grounding cabling must be installed, before this test
can be performed.

NOTICE The protective conductor test has also to be performed from the
on-site power distribution panel to the connection (mains box) of
the ECA cabinet. This is to ensure the presence of the ground
connection at the connection terminal of the ECA cabinet.

Ï Use the protective conductor meter and measure the ohmic resistance
between the protective conductor connection on top of the CCA cabinet and an
uncoated metallic part of the:
œ ECA
œ Imager computer
œ MRC Host computer
œ MRC/MRSC console components
œ RF-room
œ RF Filter plate
œ Magnet
œ Patient table
œ Monitor
œ Options (if available)

NOTICE Should the resistance exceed in one instance 200mW, test the
protective conductor in question for satisfactory galvanic
connection.

CAUTION If this is not successful for devices with inlet-connectors

(for non-heating appliances), an additional 16mm2 protective
conductor should be connected to the respective housing. Do not
disconnect the protective conductor in the line voltage cable.
