STUDENT AMBASSADOR INSTRUCTIONS



1. Meet and exchange contact information with other team leaders.
2. Your job is crucial to all new students during orientation and in the first days
of school. They will recognize you and ask you questions. Reach out to them
as you see them. Make them feel welcome.
3. During Orientation:
a. You must stay with your group at all times.
b. If there is an issue you need to find Ronelle or the designated Student
Leader.
c. Carefully work with your teammates on group activities and games.
d. Engage all freshmen to participate.
e. Share with them all of your POSITIVE experiences at Scranton HS.
f. Encourage them to participate in extra curricular.
g. During the presentations, you must stay with your group and help
keep order.
h. Make sure your cell phone is on vibrate.
i. Make sure you are in the proper designated clothing that we decide on
as a group.
j. Arrive no later than 9:15AM.
k. The leader with an asterisk after their name should be in the hallway
to help direct them to their homerooms.
l. At the end of the day, report to the theatre for a group picture.
4. During Parent Open House:
a. Report no later than 6:00PM.
b. You job is to simply create a welcoming environment for the new
parents. You should be in two lines from the driveway to the front
door welcoming parents.
c. During the session, you should remain quiet in the cafeteria.
d. You should also be in the decided apparel.
e. After the presentation, you should be spread throughout the lobby
area asking them if they would like a school tour.
f. Be kind and respectful. Answer any question you can.
g. Dismissal will be at the time when most parents have departed.
5. The other part of your duties, which also accounts for your hours, is the
personal phone call. It doesn’t matter who calls you as long as there is an
attempt to call everyone.
a. Sample script: “Hello, my name is ____________________ and I am a Student
Ambassador for this year’s freshmen class and orientation. I would
like to invite you to the Parent Open house on Tuesday, August 20th at
7:00PM in the Performing Arts Center. I would also like to extend a
personal invitation to your son/daughter to attend our orientation
program on Wednesday, August 21st at 10:00AM. They should report
to homeroom __________ on arrival. They are assigned group __________.
Thank you for taking my call. If you have any questions please contact
our main office at 570-348-3481.”
b. You must also record the date and time of the call and the outcome on
the provided log. This should be turned in the evening of the parent
open house.
6. MOST IMPORTANTLY – THE ROSTERS AND INFORMATION GIVEN TO YOU IS
CONFIDENTIAL AND SHOULD NOT BE SHARED WITH ANYONE. IT SHOULD
ALSO NOT BE SCREEN SHOT AND SHARED ON SOCIAL MEDIA. I WILL FIND
OUT ABOUT IT AND IT WON’T BE TOLERATED.

YOUR DUTIES WON’T STOP HERE. YOU WILL BE EXPECTED TO BE A DEDICATED
STUDENT AMBASSADOR THROUGHOUT THE YEAR ASSISTING WITH PEER2PEER
TEACHINGS, SCHOOL ACTIVITIES, ETC. WE WILL BE WORKING IN CONCERT WITH
THE SCHOOL COUNSELING OFFICE.
