‘The Honourable Frangois-Philippe Champagne
Minister of infrastructure and Communities
House of Commons
Ottawa, Ontario
K1A 0A6,
Dear Minister Champagne.
Lam pleased to submit the 2021 Canada Games facilities in Niagara project under the Canada-
‘Ontario Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program for federal review and approval. Ontario is
seeking federal approval for the project under the Community, Culture and Recreation funding
stream of the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program.
Based on the business case submitted to us by the 2021 Canada Summer Games Host Society,
the total project costs for the Canada Summer Games facilities are $105 million. To date $47
million has been raised by the 2021 Canada Summer Games Host Society to support the project.
The province is proposing the remaining project costs of $58 milion be split on an equal cost-
sharing basis with the federal government providing $29 milion and the province providing an
‘equal contribution of $29 milion towards the project.

federal review and approval
Ontario looks forward to receiving federal commitment and approval for the project to ensure that
funds flow to this important infrastructure project as quickly as possible. We would ask that the
federal government expedite approval of this nomination. Ministry staff are prepared to work
closely with your office to answer any questions and provide additional information as required to
ensure an efficient and swift approval process.(Our government fully supports our municipal partners in implementing projects under the ICIP.
To facilitate an expeditious approvals process, itis essential that we continue to work to increase
program flexibility to meet provincial and local priorities, streamline review and approval processes,
and reduce administrative burden. We look forward to collaborating with Infrastructure Canada on
