Lesson Plan in Technical Vocational Livelihood

(Food and Beverage Services Level II)

I. Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, students are expected to:
1. Identify the different styles of napkin folding.
2. Perform the different styles of napkin folding.
3. Appreciate the importance of different styles of napkin folding.
II. Subject Matter
Area: Sinait National High School
Topic: Napkin Folding
Instructional Materials: Power Point, Projector, Visual Aids, Table Napkin.
III. Procedures.

A. Preparation

C. Presentation
Today we are going to learn about ways
of different kinds of napkin folding.

Any idea what is napkin folding?


Napkin folding actually is the art of folding
table for neatness and beauty uses.
Very good and also a type of decorative
folding done with a napkin. It can be done
as art as a hobby. Napkin folding most
commonly encountered at the fancy
restaurant and its function are for wiping
hands and fingers, wiping the mouth and
also serve as the protection of clothing
from any drops of food when eating.

The use of the napkin in Europe began
in1400 on the table of royalty, where they
started to use napkin from warm even
perfumed cloth.
At the beginning of 1800’s napkin is a part of
bourgeois lifestyle, mostly to protect a
sumptuous dresses of the period during
meals. This is the era when folding napkins
are decoration of dining table began. The art
really took off around 1880 with incoming
prosperity of the industrial revolution.

instruction.

1. Birds of paradise folding.

1. Fold napkin in half and in half


again.
2. Then fold in half diagonally
with points on the top and facing
up.
3. Fold left and right sides down
along the center.
4. Turning their extended points
under.
5. Fold the half on long dimension
with edges facing out. (student will perform the napkin folding)
6. Pull up points and arrange on a
fabric surface.

2. Lotus

1. Fold the napkin into half


2. Fold new corners to center
3. Turn napkin over and fold all
four corners to center.
4. Holding center firmly reach
under each corner to pull flaps to
form petals. Reach between
petals and pull flaps from
underneath.
5. Pull out the flaps to create
petals.

3. Candle

1. Fold the napkin in half.


2. Fold up base 1/3 way.
3. Turn napkin over and roll from
bottom to top.
4. Tuck corners inside cuff at base
of fold.
5. Turn one layer of point down
and set on base.

4. Heart

1. Fold the napkin in half


vertically.
2. Fold the napkin in half vertically
again.
3. Fold both ends up vertically
from the center.
4. Tuck all four corner flaps up
underneath.

5. The crown

1. Fold napkin in half diagonally.


2. Fold corners to meet at the top
point.
3. Fold bottom point 2/3 way to
top and fold back onto itself.
4. Turn napkin over bringing
corners together, tucking one into
the other.
5. Peel two top corners to make
crown. Open base of fold and
stand upright.

IV. Generalization:

V. Application:

Game: 3 groups (3 members each group)


Instruction: if the teacher start to sing means the time start now, and if she stop singing means time is
up.

Students will practice and perform different kinds of napkin folds as many as they can and only in 15
seconds.

VI. Evaluation:

In evaluating your napkin folds is guided with the score of the following:

Scale:

1= Needs Improvements

5=Best

Criteria
Number of napkin folds.
Crisp, Neat folds.
Visual Appeal.
Demonstration fold same as the display.

VII. Assignment

1. What is silver Ware?
