CHAPTER I

INTRODUCTION

Background of the Study

The evolution of learning starts in the industrial era which becomes the

beginning of learning development due to the different theories and phenomenon

created. In the 1910s, learning concept and process theorized by a different

psychologist for their willingness to understand what is learning all about. The

1930s and 1940s were considered as the golden age of learning because of the

different phenomena and theories are finally characterized by human knowledge

and individual capacity to think. On the 1960s, by further study and research by

the different psychologist, they are able to find out that human learning capacity

is broader and wider than anything. Psychologist come up that knowledge has

the capacity to learn and think due to their capability to differentiate what’s right

and wrong.

The success of learning starts when humans are primitive and outdated in

education. In the 17th Century, education evolved and developed as what the

students have seen nowadays. In the 19th century, the examination process has

been made to challenge the learning process. Where learning can affect the

students ability to be more productive. Hence, the success of learning may lead

to achieved higher grades and degree.

The learning capacity of human developed as time passes since a human

can learn more among any other living form. Moreover, human has its

characteristics that emphasize their wider capacity. In order to have the ability to

guess and deconstruct information perhaps, learning can be used in problem-

solving. On which can be learned from the teachers from their basic learning

capacity. The more kinds of learning that the student encountered the more

questions they can solved.

For the past years, the newer educational process has been implemented

that most of the students used for the improvement of their study habits.

However, more challenges have been added, in order to strengthen the students'

improvement. In fact, the higher the parents support their child, the more the

student improved their study habits. Thus, students’ performance has been

measured according to their study habits. Primarily, study habits shapes the

development of a student.

In earlier years, the average time spent by students in studying is about 25

hours then deducted to 13 hours per week in the year 2003. This concept made

such a big impact, it gives benefits for both students and professor. However the

time of studying change the perspective among students and professor. It is for

the students to retain or preserve the information in their mind. Primarily, limit

their workload to learn efficiently.

Study habits development for students started in the 1900s and still being

used nowadays. Study habits become the key role in having development in

education to increase their studying and in improving their life. It also plays an

important role in making students become more aggressive and competitive in

producing quality students. Primarily, the quality of accomplishment on which can

be important in having progress on which parents can pursue their children to

become more creative that is why through study habits. It can show the students

characteristics and can be the key to learning.

The issues that can affect learning are mostly caused by disorders. On

which disorders can be connected to those who are having trouble in reading.

Also, having difficulty in learning when it comes to a particular subject. Students

are facing and they might encounter some difficulties in learning. As well as lack

of skills may affect their learning process.

Students are having difficulty in school activities due to the health issues.

Moreover, it is hard for students to adjust their vocabulary due to the learning of

new languages. Furthermore, for some instances, some of the students in public

schools are not reaching the average rating due to the lack of attention. As a

result, students are having trouble in learning English language due to their

native languages. Most of the students are getting low remarks as a result of lack

of attentiveness.

Several issues that affect student are being caused by some difficulties

like lack of funding, discipline issues and bad teachers attitude. However, one of

the reason why student have difficulties in learning is because of their teachers

attitude. Some students may be affected by a large portion of particular issue that

can affect their learning. In this instances, the discipline of students may affect

the teachers attitude that can lead students sent to disciplinary office. Also, lack

of facility of students may result to difficulties in learning.

It is difficult for students to focus when they are being distracted from their

homework’s due to multitasking. Furthermore, poor body posture may also

influence the concentration of the students that is why it affects the health of the

students. The simple skipping of breakfast may cause poor study habits which

can lead to lack of attention and concentration. Thus, the excessive use of

technology such as social media can also affect study habits. It may also cause

poor eye sights that can be considered as one of the most common problems of

students.

In avoiding bad study habits, it is necessary for the student to study their

lesson and set a goal to achieve. Every student should do their project and

homework in time. Students should study first at morning since when you study

at night your mind is full of ideas and problem. Students should study first then

social media later. Turn off all gadget if you are studying since you will be

distracted or attempt to use it.

Study is easy if your own mind is used in studying. However, one of the

best way to improve students learning while studying is to have a partner.

Changing of ideas with everyone. It can be classified as a preferred strategy to

improve study habits. At the same time, parents moral support can boost

students learning activity.
